Bulk Substrate

I am planning on spawning to a mix of Black Kow manure from lowes, wheat straw (shredded), and some Coco Coir (Bed-A-Beast). This is going to be in a big 45 gallon tub. Would you guys suggest me cutting out the manure or the coir? I've done a bunch of straight straw tubs with all good results..Just contaminates kinda quick.

Pasteurize and you should be ok. Why don't you just follow a specific tek?

The cow manure in stores is somewhat refined in it's overall nutritional value, fresh cow patties are much better since cow's have four stomach's the ammonia content is never to high. Gathering it fresh then giving it a 48 hour leeching period to remove any excess ammonia from the cow's piss is in order.
Then another 48 hour's to dry.
I would do a ratio of 25/25/50 cow/coir/straw but everyone has their own way of things here at shroomery.
Just a suggestion to look into, also, you should not have been experiencing contamination issues with straw alone unless you failed to pasteurize it, or, if you are using pf cakes...
pf cakes with straw are terrible, they need a tighter bulk sub to colonize it more "fully" without leaving large gaps for contamination to set in.

Use it all! I just spawned to 50% Black Kow and 50% Coir with some gypsum and lime. I dont have the results yet because I only did it last night but from what I've read it should turn out to be a good substrate. i dont think you necessarily need to remove either the coir or the black kow, use it all and see what happens.

do what ur planning to do.... don't slack ON the cow manure helps the straw not get contaminated also helps with the total mouisture content ive tried this method it works JUST DO IT... ACTUALLY ITS MY PREFERED METHOD
CASING 60 VERM 40 COIR ...WHEEL OVER TO THE GARDEN DPT IN LOWES use just enought to cover the top of the colonized straw poo and mybe even out as you go

I'm using the 50/50 casing.
My straw doesn't contaminate before the first grow normally..It is usually right after the first flush. I can't leach it, I live in apartments. So I figured Black Kow would be the best.

what do you mean leach? just cut into 1 to 3 inch pieces. pillow case then 170 for 1.5 hr.in a stock pot on ur stove. then use a oven bag or something for ur poo... mix it all when you get ready to spawn... poo and straw make a wonderful mix and if ur good with ur casing and patch casing you could be looking at a great flush....2 gallon of poo with some hadfulls of straw can yeid about 4 oz dried on the first flush....

I need to get me some Black Kow and try mixing it in my coir.
Maybe that would cut the price of my substrate down a notch. lol.

thats the main reason i do it, black kow is only 5 bucks for a 50lb bag, i do a 50/50 mix with coir and it ends up being a fairly cheap bulk substrate

I meant leach the poo. I know how to do straw. I just have no way to leach hpoo, so I figure black kow is the next best.

Manure is great, never skimp on it. All my bulk grows, I use a 75/25 Hpoo compost/straw the myc' love it. Sorry I don't do pics, wish I could show you though. Sometimes I add a couple cups of used coffee grounds premixed with gypsum for a day or two before it goes in the bulk. If you're buying store poo it's already been composted no need to leach.

Substrate only yields larger flushes but does nothing for increasing potency as it is genetic.
