Dude, seriously, I've tried San Pedro 3 times, and only the third time did I barely get to threshold. It was lame. How do you get it to work?
-------------------- "If I had a single wish, I would have every single human on this planet see this natural world the way I see it; the beauty in such simple things such as a fallen tree that is covered in moss and that has new trees growing from it. To some, fallen trees are ugly. But in reality, it is the circle of life at its finest. This is a beautiful world, its time that we recognize that before its all gone."

fuckin great idea!
also in the article
Quote:
But urban development and widespread "root plowing," which scrapes natural vegetation off the land to replace it with grass for cattle grazing, destroyed many of the peyote fields that once sprawled along the U.S.-Mexico border.
And more and more peyote land is off-limits because it is being bought by rich Texans who turn it into hunting preserves, said Martin Terry, a biology professor at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas.

there used to be a FUCKLOAD of salmon in the ocean, buffalo on the plains, wolves in the hills etc etc...now what? they all grew about as fast as peyote did. even if there is so many in mexico....their rate of growth to maturity is slow. subtract popular demand and i doubt you will get a positive number of number of seeds that survive to maturity....my bet. this has happened with MANY other species, why should we ignore our history and risk another one?

nice picture, i have yet to visit la huasteca from monterrey , they really harvest the right way, dont worry only because you dont eat yours since is so preciuos does not meat they have to die , i dare some of you to harvet the big head , i know you will never do it since you tread peyote as ornamental, too bad, , but ask many in the peyote church , the plant dont die it grow back more head , i hope some ones does it after all you can replant the head, do it as a experiment, that will you will understand what we do here and what we enjoy. not to say , is not and endangered especies, but peyote are perennial plant if you know how to tread then.
guees you have never seem what indias take , tons my friend tons , so if you respect it , why not , if you not kill the plant , what the problem , but i know is very easy to destroy this plants, many other people dont know how to harvest, all my best, if we have the world to enjoy and protect why not do so if you guys live here you where harvesting peyote , so please i mean the right way since you will learn the plant dont die .
alll my best vibrations.

indeed. but you can buy cultivated peyote off a crtian auction site pretty cheap and that does not risk wild populations which are far far older. buy it from a nursery, and go hiking. you get your spiritual trip, you can still be outdoors hiking (a great place to trip) and the wild peyote can continue the specie. win win.
and yes they will probably grow new heads so long as they are not harvested before a rain storm or wet period...guess thats hard to do...but i would worry about rot. but even the new heads will take a few years to be able to flower again....so it will still slow things down, and that is the best possible scenario.
i'm not trying to flame, i am jsut more of a conservation point of veiw...so if i ran into those i would take my million photos and not touch it. if i felt the need to have it i would go home, go onto google and buy some online and keep the pictures and remember those perfect plants living and reproducing.
