Greenhouses VS. Tubs

Just wondering your opinions on this. I've had a greenhouse before, and i've grown quite a few tubs. I've got around 30 jars coming up. Trying to decide whether to do tubs or greenhouse. I'm trying to get the biggest yield so I don't have to grow for a while.

I like tubs because they keep each strain isolated but greenhouses are cool because they are super easy to run and you can fit a bunch of large trays in each one. If you really want a large yield then keep transfering spawn until you have enough for like 10 coir bricks. I am getting a new greenhouse soon but i still get a lot from tubs,im going to fill 10 50gallon tubs soon with coir/coffe and case with mgmc and im expecting over 1500grams wet which is alot more than any greenhouse ive owned put out but the tubs also take up an entire room. This is why I am split 50/50 on this topic.

I've gotten over 1500 grams in a small tub. You definitely should get way more than that with 50 gallon tubs.

I was pretty blazed when posting last. I meant 1500 grams dry at least.

I swear by my 4-tier greenhouse. I get better yields, fewer contams, and I don't make huge muddy messes in my kitchen and bath trying to clean 48 qt tubs full crap. When a pan of sub in the GH stops producing or goes green all I have to do is toss the tray in the trash and replace it with a fresh one.

im with simple machine on this. if 1 tray goes bad in the GH, if you catch it early enough you can toss it and not have it further spread the pandemic. but in the case of tubs, if you have a contam, you lost a 30 gallon or whatever size monotub to a contam.
from my experience ive had way far fewer contams with my martha closet than with my mono tubs. and as far as yields go, if gotten more weight out of 2 18qt trays than i have a 30 gallon mono tub.
i guess, it all depends on personal preference and what works the best for you.

The main benefit that I see to a greenhouse setup is being able to grow multiple strains at one time. If weight is your goal, I would go with a big tub. Contams? I haven't had one yet using mono or dub tub setups. Sterilize your grains properly, pasteurize your bulk sub properly, get that pH right and you're golden

tubs for big mats of mycelium and use a greenhouse for smaller trays.
but don't get me wrong, greenhouses are great for having multiple species in the same habitat. they also allow you to remove contaminated portions of sub easily as they are encased in smaller boxes.
if a tub contaminates you can usually say bye to the whole thing.
they both definitely have their pros and cons, but if i were growing 1 species and trying to get high yields id go with tubs for the volume of available nutrients and large surface area.
its just a matter of getting your tek down, and lots of experimentation with your fc. learning how to dial in a fc is (imo) one of the most difficult parts of mycology.

I used to do tubs. I have had amazing flushes. And flushes that were not so great. I now have greens houses. I can control the FAE and RH. So I think if you can get your greenhouse set up right. Its a better way to go. One downside to greenhouse growing is you cant hide it like you can a tub. Other that that I am loving it.

That's the main reason I've never had a greenhouse. If neighbors, in-laws, repairmen, or anyone else comes by, I just move the tubs out of harms way. Hell, one time I just threw a big towel over a monotub and used it as a foot rest/ coffee table while I had company over.

Have you narrowed it down as to why your loosing your tubs to trich? In my opinion, if you haven't figured that one out yet you're going to experience similar contamination problems in your green house. Contamination is contamination either way you slice it. Once you realize that it is trich, it has already started to sporulate which means that any type of air current be it FAE, or by humidification is going to disperse billions of spores in the green house area. Good Luck!
