Cake Fruiting, have I got it all down?

So, some guy I know has a pair of cakes placed in an aquarium FC a week ago. So far, they have developed what he can call rhizomorphs, but no pins.

FAE is provided by fanning 5-6 times a day. RH is supplied by 4-5 inches of perlite, along with misting a few times a day. Temps range from 65-70 degrees. Light is from a daylight fluorescent 12 hours a day.

Is there some pinning trigger he is missing here, or is he an impatient jerk?

all sounds good. you should see pins any day now me thinks. I think cubes like it to be around 75 for optimal conditions, which explains why they are a little slow to fruit.

have you ever considered geting your cake wet maybe with a spray botle to get it to start fruiting. This seems to be what people are doing lately with excellent results

Yeah, when he mists, he makes sure to soak the verm on the top and the bottom, and the cake of course.

what about the important parts of the cakes? The sides. I have read on this board that moisture will trigger pinning. I think that you should mist the sides of the cake so that the mycelium gets knocked down

Ah, that's what I meant. The sides of the cakes definitely get wet.
How often should he do this to initiate pinning?
