Hey folks, rabbit here with another little drama in his stupid ass life. I went on with my buddy/roommate to go check out some dogs, and we ended up getting a really good lab
Now I'm living with 4 other guys in a house they have leased out, and I'm the only one living as a sublet that isn't on the contract. So in my mind, I can have the dog, because the rules don't apply to me. My friend for a long time has been annoying the fuck out of me lately, he contributes jack shit to the house and bitches when no one else does even though myself and one other dude practically do everything in/for the house. He's TELLING me, not asking me, that my dog has to go. In my mind he has no authority telling me what to do since this isn't one person's decision it's all 5 of us. But if my dog has to go I'm gonna pack it up and leave too because they're annoying the fuck out of me and I'd rather live alone anyway.

The rules may not apply to you but they apply to the household. If he is on the lease, he is beholden to the rules, and he can make you obey them. Sorry but as a subletter, you have no rights to violate their lease. Unless you want to threaten to tell their landlord that they are subletting, if they're not allowed to. And I'm sure that won't make the living situation any better.

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure your friends can get evicted for you living there with a dog. Even people living there that are not on the lease is sketchy in itself.

Nah there's nothing on the contract that stipulates they can't sublet, so I'm ok to be here, but my dog can't be there. I've lived in plenty of places with animals/pets before and never caught trouble for it. If anyone in our house gets in trouble it won't be for having a friendly dog, it'll be the huge out of control parties that block the streets with cars and make a huge amount of noise at 3am on a weeknight - but somehow these are overlooked and my dog is the HUGE threat to the house
