PC'in these jars?
    #7978221 - 02/04/08 03:59 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

does anyone know if it would be safe to use like tamato sauce/pickle jars, like ones you get at the grocery. will they withstand being pressure cooked?

They will be fine man as long as the lid gives a good seal, or you augment the filtration if it doesn't.

no but really you should go try to find tapered mason/kerr/ball jars, but if you cant find any i guess those jars will do in a pinch.

I never guess. It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

If you don't have separate lids and seals
you won't be able to insert a tyvek paper over the holes.

If this is not important to you, and you are happy with foil, then go for it.
