What size pressure cooker?
    #7978198 - 02/04/08 03:54 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I'll be buying a pressure cooker off of amazon (mega cheap especially with free shipping) and I wanted to know what a good size would be (6qt 8qt etc...) I'll only be doing 3-4 cakes any time I go through the preps to grow, so I'd like to hear your info!

Have shroomy day :mushroom2:

if you're buying a new one and there is even a slight possibility that you will continue to practice mycology then go for the 23qt (or around there)

you can get a presto 23qt for around 80 bucks on amazon

I bought an eight quart Mirro for 40$ from Wal-Mart. It fit 10 half-pints, or 4 quart jars. However, I have since purchased a AA921 All-American, which saves so much time that it isn't even funny. It was worth every penny. Spend the cash, and be happy.

Had my eye on that one, but I thought it might be too big.

I use a 23 quart Presto I bought on sale at Wal-**** for $65. I love it. It fits 10 quart jars comfortably, has a pressure gauge, and has held up for years. They have a smaller 16 quart model you might want to check into.

Personally I'd look into one a little larger than what you think you'll need. If you ever decide to enlarge your operation, you don't need to upgrade. A decent PC is the best investment you can make in this hobby.
