I called my friend M to see what was up and he told me his friend had given him some paraphernalia, including 7 grams of some mushrooms. Apparently A (the friend) decided he didn't want anything to do with drugs for a while, which is always a good decision to make. (Sometimes.) They weren't completely dry, but they weren't juicy either. I don't know what kind they were - I wish I did but he didn't tell him. So he offered to split it with me and I gladly accepted. He told me we'd be taking a capsule with an MAOI in it though. We don't even know what it is, but he said it was some kind of root which A had powdered down and capsuled. I know of A from high school - never talked to him, but I knew he was connected to my network of friends... but never knew the guy was an avid psychonaut. It's weird how certain people you'd never expect it from are open to entheogens.
All I know is that it was a very good experience. It's been seven months since I tripped... so tonight was a great release. It wasn't anything too heavy - not one of my highly ritualized spiritual journeys, but honestly, it's not even over yet as I'm typing this. I have yet to lay down and let my mind wander. It was a nice surprise at the end of the day.
But I began to slip back into that altered perspective, where everything is suddenly revealed as it really is.
It's as if there is a filter of static and personal problems that prevent us from seeing ourselves and others the way they really are. But when you're tripping, and you're sitting just thinking about yourself, analyzing your actions and the things you say... you really are looking at yourself from an extended perspective, as if you can judge yourself without the bias that your ego superimposes.
These substances have been crucial in my personal journey of cracking out of my own shell.
Well, I really don't feel like going into anything else that went through my head. There will always be too much to express through words.
I did have a great time tending to my infant son though, it was so great to see that sparkle of wonder in his eye... I could relate to him so much in that moment. It was beautiful. Best part of the trip. When my shrooms come in though, I'll be getting my mom to watch him so my fiance and I can go to my family's farm with a heroic dose, a tent, and some food. To go ... "camping." To really get into the nitty-gritty of our souls. I really love getting deep into the psychedelic experience, but relaxed trip times like tonight are always nice to have every once in a while.
