Bad Religion
    #7975712 - 02/03/08 10:30 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

Out of curiousity, are there any Bad Religion fans out there? I'm working my way through their discography right now, finding out I still love their style after all these years. Hell, I've learned more about ethics from them than I have from organized religion.

I used to be a huge fan as a kid.

I grew up listening to them. I don't listen to much punk these days.

I grew out of punk as well, but I don't see any problems with a temporary relapse.

I saw them in San Antonio a few months ago. Even though Greg looks like a balding elementary school teacher, they still rock!

Can't always agree with his perspective on the world, but at least the lyrics have enough content to even make that point.

Unlike:

Yeah, you're a crazy bitch and you fuck so good......

This is music??

Ya, he's probably in his forties by now. About the lyrics, if I remember correctly, he's on the short-list of singer/songwriters out there with a PHD.

The gray race would probably be my favorite cd. It's what got me in to bad religion. Have you ever heard any of Greg's solo works?

That he is.

As for growing out of punk, I don't see it happening. 24 now, been listening for a decade, and it makes more sense now that back then.

"Graffin attended El Camino Real High School, then double-majored in anthropology and geology as an undergraduate at the University of California, Los Angeles. He went on to earn a master's degree in geology from UCLA and received his Ph.D. from Cornell University. The Ph.D. dissertation was officially a zoology Ph.D., supervised by William B. Provine at Cornell. The dissertation was entitled "Monism, Atheism and the Naturalist Worldview: Perspectives from Evolutionary Biology." It is described as being essentially an evolutionary biology Ph.D. but having also relevance to history and philosophy of science."

Yes Bad Religion is great. I too grew out of punk, but I sometimes revisit their albums, and boy do Greg's writings ring true today! They were so progressive in their lyrics imo. I am seeing them at HOB Sunset in March. They put on a good show, and I like to support them.

My favorite album is probably Stranger Than Fiction. Wonderful work on that. And I love Greg's solo albums too. American Lesion is good, I was never really into that genre (don't even know what to call it, folk?), but I enjoy listening to that album. His second solo album is much more folk-y and country. Cold as the Clay is a down-home, heart-felt album. I love it too though, again, I'm not big into the genre. He is very talented.

On a side note, has anybody ever heard Mr. Brett's side-band's album? The Daredevils. Album is The Daredevils also.
