SSH tunnel security

I use a ssh tunnel (with a paid for shell account) to browse some sensitive websites (not this one). How secure is this? If someone was to contact the company about the traffic they got coming from me through the ssh tunnel, would there be any way to link it to me? What other steps could I take to make my browsing more secure? (Yes, I have a pretty poor understanding about all of this, sorry.)

What would using Linux do? Tor is an option, but it's pretty slow.

I think I'll use Torpark and the SSH tunnel. EDIT: I guess that's impossible.

i set up a tunnel to browse safe from work. it set up the tunnel between my work computer and my home linux box. from the work firewalls, it should look like i am just surfing https to anyone trying to take a peak.

Thats all fine and dandy if your on your own machine. If your on a company box, then your not safe. Lets not forget, SSH is for connecting from a trusted box to a trusted box over an insecure connection.
Also, you should look into tor or freenet. These things are made for just what you are doing. Look more into Tor.
Finally, maybe you should just wait to browse these sites from home. Thats the most sensible option. And some of these network admins might notice traffic on weird ports and think your up to no good.

Well, the website itself is encrypted too. I doubt there is any way the network administrators at my university could pinpoint my computer. I'm on my own machine using a ssh tunnel on a school network.
