Yes, that is your interpretation and a mistake I used to do quite a lot.
This is a form of non acceptance towards those who are... yes, different.
Yes, they have other concerns, they have other priorities and most (if not all) seem meaningless or even stupid to you. For them, that's life. :sun:
This can (and does) easily go the other way around as well. They consider that your concerns, your preoccupations and mindset are meaningless.
Who's right? :strokebeard:
Intolerance is a bitch and some times we live with the thought that we are very tolerant when in fact we practice the opposite.
In the same way you could also say that I am now being intolerant towards your judgment.

and you don't think that person is worth your time, or you're upset with what that person is saying or uncomfortable... try this:  Imagine both of you are suddenly dying.  Your both just barely clinging to life, soon both of these bodies will be an empty shell.  I tried this a bit tonight and what I felt shining through was our common nature.  I was not particularly uncomfortable with this person, but I normally feel that this person is very dissimilar from myself, and all his neurotic tendencies often annoy me.  But in this case I felt that we were, indeed, the same being, that if we were both dying and the end was coming, all of my ego games would go out the door, all of my feelings about where I am on the spiritual path in relation to most people... all out the door, and all there is is two beings, of the same stuff, returning to the same.....?

Powerful stuff. :sun:

Maybe from time to time or when you really can't get away but you could end up spending a lot of your time with this type once they know  you're available.

You're right.
I really need to work on... Accepting and tolerance.
Just a lot of anger towards those that see the more subtle elements of life as not important.
Really, if I were dying next to someone I would be more concerned with making a clean break than seeing our common humanness.
Selfish right??

Selfish like everything else.
I try to practice acceptance for my own good.
So it looks like we're dealing with dumb and smart selfishness.
When you see those around you as being dead it is because a part of you is numb. Every "problem" that we perceive comes from our inner world.
Is it "selfish" to want to repair it? Yes.
But it can have positive outcomes on those around us as well.

"When you see those around you as being dead it is because a part of you is numb."

I agree. I feel the part of me that is numb is the very part of 'them' that has most expression. The part of me that is very alive is the part of 'them' that seems dead.

"Every "problem" that we perceive comes from our inner world.
Is it "selfish" to want to repair it? Yes."

I realize that it is my own projection. But, everyday it seems to gather more evidence for being an actual physical reality. Maybe I'm in the wrong place at this time in my life around the wrong people.

the way you describe maya is not a subjective thing. it is distinguishing reality from illusion, those are objective things that can be discovered, and if they are true we should work at discovering them, not just burying our heads in the ground with belief.

everything is a subjective thing especially ideas about reality.

i agree that life is not to be taken seriosuly, but i dont really know what that has to do with blurring the lines between illusion and reality, sounds more like a psychotic episode, than any insight into the universe. (although one could argue that a psychotic episode may reveal truths of our world)

ultimately though i agree that the point is to be happy, if thinking of it as maya helps then more power to you, but imho it is just a different means to an end so long as you arent hurting anyone

i see it the same way, as a means to an end, as a device.

imagine a man who has spent all his life in a cave, and you find him there and tell him about the world. his reaction is to say your crazy. you speak of trees and sunshine and we thinks your a nut, these things arent real he says, he cannot be convinced. how then do you get him out of the cave? you decide to say "oh my god theres a man eating monster over there" and you start running out of the cave. he runs after you in a panic and for the first time steps out of the cave and see's the world. do you think then that it would matter to him at all whether or not the monster was real? whether or not it was true that there was a man eater back there? you used a device to get the man out of the cave, maya is the same idea.
