I found this specimen growing in some wood chips. There are no stems, just a big clump of fungus growth. I took a few pictures with my Blackjack's camera, will take more later when I get my Nikon's battery charged. Anyway, I'm writing this post from my phone, it will be a little while till I get to a computer. Will add more description if necessary. Let me know what you think folks.
peace

Well, a sporeprint would help, but they look like something in the pleurotus, lentinellus, panellus genus'.

Naw, they're not Hohenbuhelia petaloides, I've seen a lot of very different looking populations of this species, and none look quite like that.
Lentinellus or Panellus looks good. Nice call landsnorkler.

I like to eat those! You should have given it to me if you were leaving it behind!
On second thought, maybe I shouldn't cook up stuff found on the side of the freeway...

You mean, even being in a different genus?? The common name is "Leaf Oyster", so yes, according to people who favour common names over latin, it is an "Oyster". It is not, however, considered a Pleurotus, like the "Oyster Mushrooms" P. ostreatus.
