Azurescens A Few Questions.?

Ok my FOAF needs some answers....
1. Has spawn Rye Grass Seed of Azurescens. 2. Boiled chips for 20-30 minutes on the first day 3. Soaked the HICKORY chips in water for 3 days.
These were new hickory chips used for smoking stuff in. Anyways, hes wondering when is a good time to PC and spawn?

ribs should be slow cooked instead of being pc'ed or boiled first. Real bbq'ers will laugh at you if you tell them that you pc'ed your ribs first. It is second rate

Rib Rubs and Sauces It is a real shame that I have to mention this... NEVER PRE-BOIL RIBS. Boiling will make the ribs tender but they will be short a whole lot of flavor and it will require more barbecue sauce than you can imagine to make them even begin to taste decent.

yeah i did. I wondered what they have to do with hicory,pc,boiling. So i thought you meant ribs???
So what are we talking about here? Ribs or mushrooms? Azurescens to be exact. Because the last thing that you would want to do is use hicory for azures and let alone pc the chips. You can see how one might think you were talking about smoking some meat

sounds great. Do not pc it. Just boil it for a few mins. let it cool in the water. Drain the excess water. Add the spawn. Keep in tub. Turn every week. Place outside, water when hot, pick mushrooms in fall

i think your question was answered early.
I just double checked, i guess hickor will be okay. How much are you paying for it??? Get this stuff, it comes in three colors. it is 5 bucks for a big bag and works great http://www.scotts.com/index.cfm/event/ProductGuide.product/documentId/7c16bee18f4276b2673c22dc961a7348
here are some pictures of the wood chips in action. Just boil them if you are worried. If they are going outside right away then you d not need to boil. Just spread a light layer on the ground and cover with 2 inches of chips. Water the chips

for get the jars and pc'ing the wood chips.Trust me, I know what I am talking about.
You should do this and just expand until ready. The spawn will colonize fresh chips really fast if held indoors and in a tub like a fc without holes. Do not add too many chips each time. Maybe a 4:1 ratio. 4 cups of chips per 1 cup of seed. Once colonized you can expand it again at the same ratio.
So lets say those 4 cups of chips are fully colonized by the 1 cup of seed. Now yo uhave 5 cups of spawn which you cna add 20 cups of new chips.
Once you have a good amount you just build you bed. I put some high quality soil down first. I used kellogs growmulch. It has not peat, it is basically wood mulch but very fine. It will drain and the mycelium will colonize it also. So just put your fully coloniuzed chips/seed down in a very thin layer. I use grain at a 1-2 kernel per square inch. Now add some new wood chips like the ones above at 1-2 inches deep. Do not go too deep becasue the co2 will build up and sufficate the mycelium. Now just water the patch. water it weekly in the summer if it is hot/dry. Dig into it every few weeks just to make sure the mycelium is coming up. The mycelium will not come to the surface until fall once the chips are cool enough. Once you see this you will know it is getting close to the good time. The mycelium will fully make a mat of mycelium over teh top, it looks like overlay but it is fine. They grow great.
Here is some wood lover spawn fully colonizing wood chips. I would expand this by 5 if I wanted to
more than fully colonized and way too much seed for its own good. Too much seed attrackes rodents and birds. They will piss you off. Notice the holes, it looks like it is dug through.

a little bed/patch I made

same area with a hole dug so that you can see the seed is colonizing. I just made it last week and it has been 40 degrees and raining all week. The seed is still colonizing even though the temps are cold and the water ratio is high due to nature. These aint cubes, this isnt indoor. No fea, temps,or rh to worry about. Nature can grow mushrooms a 100x better that you
