Dunno. Wasn't trying to be an ass. Just informing. If there was sarcasm, I did not catch it.

Haha, I can't say crazy shit or rude shit. I'm in HR. I have to be polite and clever/funny. But I can't think of any clever/funny replies or just something original.

Most people truthfully really don't want to know how you are when they ask, unless you're in a good mood. "How are you" is something many people say without even thinking about it (sort of like children and the Pledge of Allegiance), and if you start to go into detail about how you really are, it can be a regrettable turn of events for the person who asked. I tend to just reply with "pretty good" and leave it at that.

I work at a big company, so it's usually "good, thanks". Anything else would feel awkward.

How about, give them a confused look and ask "Is that a rhetorical question?"

You could just go
"How am I?" over and over, getting louder each time.

Many of times I have tried to give them an honest chance, and say how I am actually doing, and they cut me off mid sentence because they are in a hurry.

About once a month I like to tell my coworkers that I am sad or depressed and they get all serious and awkward. haha
There's this unwritten rule that you always reply with a happy response even if you are sad.

Excellent, excellent!
Also, you could look at them with a concerned face and say: "Man, my hemmorhoids are bleeding again. I'm gonna let you take a look - you let me know if I should apply some oitment." Then you turn around as if you're really gonna pull your pants down.

Sometimes I just stare at the questioner with my mouth hanging open.
Actually I don't ever do that, but it would probably be kinda funny.

Oh you crazy guys.
Some of these were pretty good guys. I like Shroomery member #108641, Prisoner#1's suggestion of "still kickin'". I'm definitely going to work that into my repertuar.

I usually say "fantastic". It leads to a lot of superficial conversations with store clerks.
On Seinfeld, someone asked Kramer "How do you do?" and he gave the guy a high-five/handshake deal and said "I do great!"
