Kiaora shroomerites!
Was hoping some of you people would be able to help me out.
Over 2007 I had several mushy trips the last being extremely intense and several months ago, when i trip I see a pattern on everything, like all textures/colors become a persiancarpet style pattern. I've read a bit and think that this may be what some people refer to as a "safety hallucination" After my first trip i noticed the return of this pattern whenever i smoked pot. Anywho my current situation is that i see this pattern even when sober in varying degrees of intensity (it's particularily obvious at night). Other drugs such as pot, legal "highs" such as bzp based pills, or ecstacy have all produced tripping effects. The last bzp based pill i took induced closed and open eyed visuals. I have cut back alot on my cannabis use as it was deepening feelings of panic and anxiety (may or may not be related) I'm still functioning sweet and am enjoying life, just being cautious and taking it easy.
Any info/links/personal experiences/advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated =)

I experience a lot of the same things you are talking about (with me it's floral patterns that remind me couches from the seventies). I've never heard about 'safety hallucinations' though, so I don't really know what to tell you. I always assumed it was something along the line of flashbacks.

Never noticed the patterns while sober myself. Would describe them as a persian carpet as well too though I have seen other patterns as well.

I write a lot of blumpff about the brain, and how hologaphic memory works. basically you have these gestalt momentary experiences that get turned into memory that is stored with all the other memory in the same material (the cerebral cortex) it is all spread out evenly through this material. what differentiates one moment's memory trace from another is the essential motif. the particular smelltastecurve-vibe that elicits that memory from dormancy. I get into it more deeply elsewhere, (but practically every other post of mine has something to do with associative memory and how it works or with mental states (drug or dream induced) and how that impacts associative memory and consciousness)
ANYWAY, the thing is, there are some aspects of your person that are fairly continuous and common accross years of gestalt moment memory traces. these common ground signals also produce a motif that is deeply engrained. remember that the motif of which I am speaking is a complex electrical interference field on the surface of the folded cortex. the geometry of this field, often taken for background has an elaborate nature. IMO this is what you are seeing you are getting some of the basic self signal motif as it spills into your visual processing areas. I think it is grand, but as you get used to it, it will fade, unless you seek it out. it is not exactly the you, it is the motif of you, like acupuncture points in the foot get kidney indirectly via wiring - in the same way this pattern is your bacground totality, indirectly.
i usually get some of that with salvia, and it often looks like tibetan clouds or chinese dragons breathing fire.

i think notapillow is right. it was thier before, you just didnt notice it until shrooms opened your eyes.
i get the same thing, but it doesn't really bother me. others have said its too vivid and a bother. it should fade after a while, until you trip again that is =P
