Third grow, seeking assistance

Hi fellow members. I would only like people to post to this thread if they have relevant information, please don't SPAM this as it is for informational purposes.
I've used the BRF/PF Tek twice, and feel that I want to move up a little- using wild bird seed as spawn.
If I am correct, I can either use the spawn(colonized wild bird seed) in a casing-where I would just pour the colonized seed as its own layer(instead of a crumbled BRF cake) -OR- I can go bulk- not too familiar on that procedure.
I want to try bulk, but want something that doesn't smell like shit(AKA no manure). Also, something that isn't too complicated- still feel relatively new to growing.
I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction/a good TEK on how to go bulk.
Again, informative responses only please.

You really should consider horse manure.. if you get the right stuff it doesn't smell like anything other then compost. I'm more concerned with touching door handles in public places then aged horse manure.

Yeah, coir's a good start. From what I hear of it though, don't expect any kind of awesome results after your first flush, as it's not the most nutritious bulk sub available.
You're best off trying to spawn that WBS to something, be it coir, manure, anything other than just trying to fruit off cased WBS. It doesn't work so great on its own, and taking it from a mediocre substrate to a 5 lb tub of mushy-making goodness doesn't involve a whole lot more work, mostly just more waiting for everything to colonize.

Options are: uncased grain, cased grain, coir, coffee, weed, phonebooks, bibles, coffee/coir, hemp twine, mulch, compost, grain "cakes", or my personal favorite, just grow the mycelial mat real thick on soft agar and eat that . So in other words, keep reading and searching .

Thanks for all the responses. You know, manure really grosses me out- however, I am absolutely determined to get a killer flush-and I realize that this can be done with manure.
So, my next question is, or couple of questions rather: 1. Does manure really not that smell bad, if you get the right mix? 2. Will the stuff attract bugs, worms, insects? My greenhouse is in our apartment living room. 3. What's the best/easiest tek? Relatively complicated process?
Thanks in advance, it's thanks to you guys that I was able to have the successful grows I have had.

Greystealth, If you're ready to do grain, I personally would keep it as simple as possible. Go straight WBS, let it re-colonize for a day or two then case it. Yes, it works good. No, you won't get super sized mushrooms. Potency is not going to be an issue. You will be able to make tons of prints! To me that is the most important thing. From the 100+ prints that you can make from that grow, you will have the option to experiment to your hearts desire.
Here are pics of an F+ grow done just they way I mentioned above:

Ultimately it's your call, Good luck.
