What do you think?
    #796815 - 08/05/02 12:31 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

This is something I wrote half asleep and not feeling like I was really saying anything much and I was surpirsed when I woke up that I liked it. It is a poem of sorts about meditation (or tripping). I love simple little songs and poems and I have written hundreds, here is one.

What is reality?
What is abnormality?
All thoughts are interpretations,
All interpretations are imperfect.

So I'll play a game,
Please do the same,
We'll lose all perception,
And come back rearranged.

It has some of that first draft roughness, but (at least to its writer) it has some of that first draft magic.

The first two lines are about how nobody really KNOWS anything for sure and so nobody has the right to judge anyone else's beliefs to the point of saying, "you're wrong and I am right ("Thou shall not judge" to the Christian). The next two lines are about...things exist just the way they are. However, we look at them with our eyes, we hear them with our ears, we touch them with our body, we taste them with our mouth, and we think about them with our mind. Our eyes, ears, nerves, mouths and minds are not perfect. Yet we use those to perceive, and so we cannot get a real accurate picture of anything at all. Once again, this idea tells me not to be so arrogant as to say I got "it" right.

The last 4 lines are fairly obvious.

Anyways, it is my opinion and my poem...what do you think?

I like it. Reminded me of The Book of Lies...
