i had some left over wbs, i thought it was 100% colonized but turns out it was only about 80%. I tried to fruit it straight from the jar, but nothing happened. so i dunked it in a honeywater jar i had. cased one end, then tried to fruti again. its been like a week since the last birth and still nothing, no pins, AND no contams. got some bluing going on from playin with it tho.
its just a 1/2pt, sitting on a plate, under a glass, ontop of my cable box for heat. i mist it a few times a day, leave the glass off till my spray evaporates.
btw, the honeywater dunk seemed to make the myc double seemingly overnight.

wbs wont fruit as a cake very wellif at all. You need to case it. Putting a "casing on the top isn't gonna do much IMO, I thought wbs had to be spawned to another sub like straw or poo before it will fruit?

Tahoe is a worm and it probably wasn't even his picture guys, He is a sociopath.
I don't have any experience with WBS but from reading other users posts over the last four years WBS is meant as bulk spawn since the kernels are extremely small they allow for thousands of inoculation points. Fruiting it by itself was never advised and I've never come across a article where anyone's had much success with it alone at all.
Take care.

update:
i was taking a shower this morning and thought about this cake. i decided it was time to get rid of it cause it was dead,no pins, no contams, nothing. I pulled the glass off the top of it and a 1/4" pin slapped me in the face. I couldnt believe it. this cake has been through hell. ripped in half, its ALWAYS sitting in a puddle, getting fondled, etc. but it finally threw a pin out.
that is all

Take care.
And you know nothing of WBS, like you said- To say Tahoe needs to lie about WBS to be cool, then your a idoit. Your what? on the board a few weeks and think that you have any standing to start slandering productive members of the forum why? Keep this to cultivation discussion, screw the name calling, its redundant.
Now back to why we are here.
If it doesn't dry out, it might make a few pins. But there is just enough water content to push you to coloniation- not toss out fruits- even after a dunk, WBS only holds so much water, as any grain.
If you want fruits from a grain cake, break it in half, put each peice in two jars, mix with verm 1:1 and lay on its side, helping the medium settle.

But you want to start to get pins first, then mix it up, and let it re-colonize...

Its cool if you gotta waste some spawn, 1 pint of spawn in a qt jar almost got me a dry Oz. You can keep adding verm between flushes and fruit till the last grain is gone... GL

so straw in a grocery bag, and straw in a breadtin covered with tin foil can be left to incubate until pins form?

Yup.
Use a garbage bag even- a large garbage can or even bucket. Keep it stirred, take spawn as you need.
