is it a good idea to filter air going into a PMP? Will it prevent contaminants?

No, it won't, maybe it will catch some spores though.
There is no need for a PMP, just drill 100+ 1/4 inch holes in all six sides of your FC.
You need massive FAE for great pin-sets.

yea over a hundred you say eh I already made a tyvek filter box for the unit anyway It looks nice. You'd have to see it, but the air pump is the best method of FAE for it trust me.

No hes right Scavenger Type....100-200 holes...holes all over to create better air currents flooding your Fruiting Chamber with FAE....and Trust me the fish tank method is for fish...NOT MYCOLOGY...if you asked a mycologists this...he'd almost undoubtedly strangle you with the air pumping tubing

why not use both? the air pump will give you some extra help when you are away and can't fan. at least it will supplement the air exchange SOME right? as long as your humidity stays up, i don't see why not.

I wouldn't worry about filtering the air coming into the air pump. It has a small filter in the unit that is acceptable. If you were manually fanning the terrarium, you wouldn't filter that air, now would you?
