Burned PF cakes

Just finished PCing 28 PF cakes. I had some problems with my PC one run and ended up burning 7 of my cakes. The bottom of the cakes is pretty black, but this blackness only extends up the cake about 1/2 cm or less. Should I still inoculate these cakes after cooling or should I just discard them and use my extra spores on the healthier cakes? I have a few more cakes to PC later, so hopefully I'll end up with a 41/7 split of "good" cakes to "bad". I have 60cc of spores to use, and I'm wiling to spawn the burnt cakes or dunk and roll them, whichever is better considering the circumstances. Thanks for any advice.

well if someone knows for sure that it's a bad idea and a waste of spores, then of course i'd rather not try it. but i'll probably end up inoculating them anyways....it'll be a learning experience at least

burnt=dry. it is still sterile so it would be okay. I would inoculate 1-2 of them just to see and then redo the rest

I personally would replace with fresh cakes and trash the burnt ones. The inconvenience of having to PC a couple of more cakes and wait for them to cool down is nothing when you think that you might not have success with the burnt ones. What have you got to loose.... one day?

i have to agree that it is better to redo it , if this is your first grow which im assuming it is , you dont want to bother with some cakes not colonizing and so on , if you have more brf and vermiculite just redo 7 cakes , for me spores are more important then brf and verm . Peace

I have burnt verm on cakes in the microwave before I got my PC and it usually still colonizes even if a lil piece doesn't you can just cut it off. Why waste cakes or do you like the trouble of PC ing and having to watch the stove?? I had a couple jars that I didn't knock up for a few months cuz we moved. I did 2 months ago and they were finetoo.
