Well, without testing the pH, I have found mixing 15mL of water and 1 gram of NaOH per gram of bark to be successful. So, in your case, I would have mixed 227 grams of NaOH with about 3400mL of water. Then add the bark and let that soak for about an hour.
IMO, your solution seems to be too basic.
Also, you want to use vm&p naptha. It is best to avoid the rosonol lighter fluid.

even if you shake the mixture up pretty good, it will eventually separate. In fact, I like to agitate it, makes me feel confident that I am pulling every bit of spice out that I can. I will work a half pound of powdered bark for 5 pulls over 3 days. Last time net me around 2 grams. Some people have found this hard to believe, but.....
Also, get yourself some bestine rubber cement remover....it is 100% heptane which is a great solvent for recrystallizing. Dissolve all of your spice in some warm heptane....30ml for about a gram of spice...and then cool it slowly...first on counter, then in fridge, then into freezer on coldest setting. Leave it in there over night and then pour the whole shebang through a coffee filter....mmmm...good stuff.
nice and pure.

I think someone should write the Ultimate Lazyman's DMT Tek, in both simple terms for those not chemically minded and a more detailed version. It should have the freeze precip.
