What type of cactus is the one in the bottom picture on the left with long spines? Some of it may be salvageable.

Most Trichocereus cacti can live at temps down to 20F.

WTF did you do to yours?

They were inside right?

They should have been fine if they were getting enough light.

Did you water them a bunch?

Or what?

Yea Bridgesii is supposedly hardy to 20 degrees Fahrenheit, so I have my suspicions as to whether it actually got that cold in your dorm room. It may be some type of rot, but it's strange it got all three cactus at once. Plus if only one side of the cactus is effected and the sides not shown in your photograph are fine it must be that some of the cell walls burst. I know my dorm room never got close to 20 degrees tho:shrug:

Where the spines trimmed from the cactus on the left in the bottom picture?

Good luck with those.

first of all fuck you for assuming i would purposely do that to MY plants; i didn't post this thread to ask for your criticism teot, or whatever your name was before you got banned.. secondly, nope watering schedule has been on winter time, every 4 or so weeks. third, they're in a southward facing window. and fourth yea where i live it gets to be about 10 degrees at night and is almost constantly in the low 20s. i live on a mountain in northern new england, so i get consistent freezing weather.

i asked if the mescaline was salvagable.. is it?

Aww poor lil things!

Your Peruvian is definitely re-growable. Im not too sure if you would want to eat those cacti tho  :evildog:  there are some funky molds/bacteria out there.

You could try cutting out anything that looks like rot, let them callus over and lay them on some dry soil in a warm sunlit place.

Your bridgesii looks pretty fucked tho

yea the spines were trimmed.

and this happened when i got back from break so im guessing that they either turned the heat off, or my right window is poorly insulated. its interesting that these 3 all got damaged on the side closest to the glass and my other cacti on the window to the left are fine. one is actually budding right now. ill post pics later

If they just froze, I'd say definitely. Nothing changes chemically about mescaline when it freezes. In fact freezing mescaline would be a good way to store it. It's definitely worth a try for some tea or something, and maybe still be able to salvage a cutting out of the deal.
Goodluck.

It's probably very potent.

That cactus looks very stressed.

I'm pretty sure you where right saying it freeze damage.

They power was probably off in your dorm over the break.

I know they shut the power down in my girlfriend's dorm.

I suggest you brew up the one in the top pic as well as the left one in the bottom pic.

As for the Peruvianoid in the 2nd pic on the right I would cut all the damaged parts and callouse it in a dry, warm place for 2 weeks or so.

Then re-plant it.

The one on the left looks rotten not frozen, cut off any small part that is still somewhat healthy, let it dry, and see if it will send off roots.

holy shit what sucks. those are the worst looking cactus Ive ever seen in my life. looks like you injected them With some black bacteria, cut em down, and threw em out in the sun on a 34 degree day to dry. then came back a few months later to see if they where dry yet.

i have all my cacti in a room that i believe freezes every night, none of them have died on me yet and i still have a month or so of winter to go. i think what you had was a watering problem, this happened to some of my cacti last year during their dormant stage as well, but they were in a heated room that time.

ok here's the other side of the 3 cacti i've shown you.

whats the final decision? the bridgesii from pic 2 (left) is rotten or has freeze damage? -- if it is rotten, you cant seperate the mescaline from whats left of the cactus?
and it looks like if i cut the base of the peruvain off and let it callus it will root again perhaps..
and whats the best thing i could do with the bridgesii from pic 1? it's about 1/4 frozen vertically will it just scar and keep growing if i leave it?
