hi, just a quick Q.
before i have made mushroom tea from fresh mushrooms by leaving them in hot water for around 30mins stirring and maintaining temperature. then drank the water and discarded the shrooms. this worked well.
will i still be able to use this method with bone dry shrooms, whilst not eating the shrooms afterwards? or will i lose a decent amount of trip.
cheers

Should be fine as long as you powder the dried shrooms (or at least chop them finely). I think the psilocybin would have a slightly more difficult time mobilizing from the dried fungus.

Im usually all about getting everything I can out of my mushrooms without wasting anything, so I probably take em out once the tea is done, but not discard the leftovers. If I found I needed an extra "pick me up" in the middle of the trip Id munch on one of the left over mushies. As far as not getting as much out... I would think that because theyre dry, the psilocybin would be less mobile than it would be in a fresh one, however you would be in essence rehydrating it when you boil it... I would still just stick with eating them. Another idea would be to break up the mushies into small pieces, and just leave them in the tea when you drink it

I'm ok, really.

Add some regular tea to the powdered shrooms, steep for at least 15 minutes, then filter through a cone coffee filter.
I can't bring myself to chew up dried mushrooms anymore. The thought of it makes my stomach turn. So, without side-by-side comparison of the same amount, it's hard to say how much loss there is. I would have to assume that there is SOME loss. You can't get it all on the first soak, just as you can always make a second, weak-ass cup of tea from a tea bag. But, I don't understand the drive for more potent shrooms and the best way to get all of the psilocybin out of them. Just use more shrooms. If you're run out, I think there might be a post around here that explains how to obtain more...

I once tried making tea from 2.5 grams, didn't work so well. The trip was on the scale of one gram, but I figure that was from there being too much actual tea in the water, leaving it over saturated? *shrug*

Nah, unless it was ink black, I don't think you were close to saturation. Maybe they were weak shrooms, or you didn't steep them long enough?

Probably didn't steep long enough because they were from the same batch I had had a few months before that were exceptional.
Although it was good it was a mild trip, because as I found out during it, I was in no mindset to be doing a shroom trip, too much angst at the time!
