    #7963016 - 02/01/08 12:28 AM (16 years, 1 day ago)

Got my B.Sc in December and am starting my new job as a microbiology technician on the 15th of Feb. Pretty stoked that it happened so fast.

It's quality assurance testing for a major dairy processing company. So mainly testing milk and milk product samples. It's nothing flashy but it is a solid entry level position with room to advance. starting on NZD40k which is at the upper end for new graduates in New Zealand.

It's done mainly by culturing on selective media, and confirming with microscopy. so some lab equipment yeah but mostly pretty basic.

Cool, congratulations! How long did it take you? My stepsister's doing a similar degree.

Thanks guys. It was a 3 year degree with my major listed as biological sciences although i also met the requirements for a microbiology major. basically I did a general biology degree with microbiology, plant biotechnology and genetics up to 3rd year level. also did some chemistry (physical and organic) up to second year and second year biochemistry.
