Brand New Shmoopy Remote Viewing Challenge
#7961552 - 01/31/08 06:49 PM (16 years, 1 day ago) |
|
|
Not to be confused with the other scores of Swami Challenges.
This one is different because it is occuring now. The people of three years ago did not have enough time and knowledge to hone their budding remote-viewing skills, but are certainly ready by now.
There is an object in or around my house that is most unusual. It is special to me. Guess it, er remote view it, and I will send it to you gratis.
Here are the rules: one must guess *remote view* the generic category of the object AND give some specifics such as size, shape and color(s). Example: Red, two door, European sports car. I will not require the year and model number or engine size.
I will upload a photo of the object to Diploid in the next day or two. If the category of object is accurate, but the description is close, but fuzzy, four judges (two materialists and two mystics) will be assigned to decide if the entry is a hit. In case of a tie the four judges shall elect a neutral fifth judge.
Entries shall close on midnight PCT on Feb 15th, 2008. One guess per member. More than one public guess shall nullify all entries.
The location is in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Diploid is naturally exempt from the challenge and if he reveals the object to a third party before the contest ends, I will put a VooDoo hex on him.

Alright, I'm game.
I've stickied this thread until the challenge is over.

By the way, call this synchronicity or divine intervention, or plain ol' 'like minds think alike', but I'm working on something similar, only my version is more geeky and tests for the often-cited mind-machine interface where it's claimed that the mind can influence quantum level events.
I'm building a True Random Number Generator that produces the random numbers from a source of Quantum Indeterminacy, specifically, the decay of a radioisotope.
The goal is to see if those who participate in the experiment can influence these quantum events which can be detected by finding a statistically significant slew in the random numbers produced at the rate of several million per second over the course of several weeks that the experiment will be conducted. Stay tuned for more when I finish building and testing the gadget.
Like OC's challenge, mine also will be a genuine, honest search for the truth, whatever it may be.

This seems very odd. Shouldn't you send the item to Diploid before posting the challenge? Otherwise, when I jump in to say send me your rather worn copy of Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World, and somebody else comes along and asks for your Christmas tree cookie cutter, you will be forced to part ways with two beloved objects instead of one.

I would envision your test to be something like this:
Have the output of your generator print a graph in realtime. Perhaps have a period of 5 minutes of 'normal output, followed by 5 minutes of web viewers try to skew towards a 1 and then 5 minutes of web viewers trying to skew towards a zero or -1.
I would only do this maybe once or twice per day to keep people focused and interested.
At the end of the 15 minute period, the three graphs could be presented on a single page for comparison along with the specific details and a summation.
Go for it!

Am I to understand that it is an impossibility for the object to be viewed now and then posted about later?
*Shmoopy quickly deletes photo of dog-eared 'Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World' book.
OK, I will send a physical description to Diploid right now and the photo sometime soon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't YawningAnus a man? Of course there's absolutely nothing wrong with two consenting adult males enjoying an evening alone together with a bottle of fine wine, a Marvin Gaye album and a 12 inch double sided black dildo.

OK, after all that, my official joke guess (non-remote viewing attempt) - is that the object is a framed picture of NiamNyx and Veritas together in your boudoir....

Good idea. I tried meditating on you, but all I could see was a boat and Rudolph the rednosed reindeer. Since Las Vegas is far from the sea, I'm guessing it must be the reindeer.
Will you send him on foot?

That one was easy. I saw your object as soon as you posted. I wouldn't even bother to enter such an easy to win contest as that. Get back to me when you have a real challenge.

The first thing that popped into my mind was kind of strange.... One of those bird nests that are made out of bird saliva - used to make "bird nest soup"....
Anyway, I am sticking to that answer as my official "remote viewing guess" - as I don't think it can get any better.... Hopefully I get the bird that made the nest as well....

The problem with your whole concept is that when one alters the consensus reality it can only be detected by the one who alters it. To everyone else it is business as usual. Convincing others that their reality has shifted is difficult when the shift was retroactive down to the level of memory. With this in mind any test would be useless to conduct. You must also note that producing mind blowing visual alterations such as teleportation, weather alteration, or shape shifting with large crowds of witnesses is against the union rules. They really crack down on that shit.

Your taste is impeccable Diploid.

If this is a standard Schmoopy test no wonder no one has ever passed it. So a person having never met you is supposed to find your home in a city of how many a million people (?) and then find an unusual item in it?
No wonder no one is taking it seriously.
Has anyone on this website ever claimed they could do said thing?
You could give a person your address, have them show up in person, look around your home and they'd possibly still not figure it out.

That's why this test is addressed to people who claim they're "psychics", and to to "regular" people.

Your points are valid. Now address in the same manner those who claim they can remote view a Russian nuclear sub's unknown location.

At least this scenario has a target....
I can answer your question.... There is an interconnection with all life energy.... There would be sea creatures with vision near the sub, and the psychic would search thru that collective energy for the form/shape of the sub.... Then the sea creatures jump out of the water to see where they are, and walla~....!
My book will be coming out this fall, if you would like to know the full secret....

Why does this matter?
-------------------- Republican Values: 1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you. 2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child. 3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer. 4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

TK get off it.
Either do the challenge or make a promise that you will and then break your promise like the pinwheel video we're all still waiting for after three years.
I'm not playing your game.
Geez, what is it with mystic heads that they go on and on about shit but they never just up and do what they say they can do.

lulz, i guess you would say transparency isn't an issue when it comes to experiments huh diploid? better that we have blind trust in those who organize them.
and about the video. i never promised i would make in the past, i already said this, and you can look through my post history and see this for yourself.
however i did promise to shut up about that topic until the video is made. also out of respect for your offer i've overall decided to try and keep myself quiet on these boards, i had one simple question, and i even PMed you instead of trying to cause trouble. Is that not good enough? is antagonizing me really necessary? should i only communicate similarly?

I have never practiced remote viewing. But I closed my eyes and pictured Las vegas on a map and just zoomed in from there. At first, some of the things already mentioned were popping in my head, like the lizard and what not.
Anyway, the first thing that entered my mind that I felt was genuine was a wheat penny.
So my answer is Wheat penny or some Wheat cent.I dont know the year.

Of course it's an issue. I know exactly what OC's thing looks like. I just don't take you seriously as I made clear years ago when you promised and failed to produce the video.
You ALREADY have a 3 year old challenge on your plate. When you finish eating that one, then maybe I'll give you a second helping. Until then, I don't take you seriously.
Now leave me alone and take the challenge, though more likely you'll keep talking and talking and talking instead.
Just like last time.

I keep seeing an oriental rug. But I also see a wood porch so who knows.
We played this game in massage therapy school. Only we had strangers from other classes like dental class or something come in and they had to place large pieces of cotton in their hands for a few minutes. Then we were to hold it and after a few minutes write down anything we may have felt or seen. OK so everyone thought this was silly but I am always down for something odd. So I held the cotton closed my eyes as instructed then just focused onto nothing. Then I had 3 objects sorta flash in my mind. A snake a ring and a kings crown.
Turns out that the woman whose cotton piece I held was unsure of getting married to a controlling man. I didn't know her and don't know if that was even legit. but I think they never got married.

Update: as no one has gotten close, I will make it easier as perhaps people 'visited', but could not read my mind as well.
The Object in Question is a painting that hangs over my digital piano and to the right of my computer on the west wall.
One again, generic categories, such as a portrait, or an abstract, or a landscape only get you to step one. Some specific, salient characteristics such as size, dominant colors and subject matter, etc. must be presented to claim the prize.

Judging from all the talk by self-proclaimed practitioners in other threads throughout the Shroomery over the years, and the lack of it in this thread, I'd say the former, not the latter.

I'm saying the real deal does exist but they aren't going to dick around with the likes of OC or Randi.

How conveeeeeeenient, and selfish not to win the Randi prize and donate it to some starving orphans or something.
There may be genuine psychics in the world, but they're giant flaming assholes for keeping such a thing secret.

That is assuming that they aren't doing good with these powers by giving in other ways than your only stated choices.... One could do good, and still keep it a secret.... You and I have had discussions about the downsides of "coming out".... IMO, it would be selfish to think that someone with such powers owes anybody else anything at all....
By chance, have you seen the movie "Phenomenon"....?

Well, seeing as how nobody even came close, I'll unsticky this now. Stay tuned for the Quantum-Mind experiment when I finish building the device.
Thank you United Nuclear for the handy-dandy radioisotope that is somehow legal to sell even though a smart Muslim (there aren't any so it's OK) could cause us some serious grief with this stuff.
