you and 4 people have to fight to the death until one person is left standing. Everyone, including yourself, has only one arm remaining. before each of you lays a gun with one bullet and a knife. You can only pick up one.
which one do you pick up?

Neither, i let someone pick up the knife and the gun, the first person the man with the gun shoots is the dude with the knife, when he falls down lifeless i take the knife and dispose of the rest.

not bad. better than what I cam up with.
I never thought of taking the "cant shoot an unarmed man" angle.
you could try to distract them by challenging them to a game of paper rock scissors, thumb war, arm wrestling or slaps.

That depends. Do i have to load the gun? With one hand itd be hard to load so id go for the knife. But if its already loaded id go for the gun. Unless its an auto with the round in the clip, then id be back to the knife, cause the slide would be hard to use.
You didnt guve enough info

Assuming none of these people are idiots the logical choice for everyone would be to pick the knife. And so probably everyone will get stabbed to death.

I'm assuming you can't grab someone else's weapon.
I'd grab the gun and stay away from the battle (are we confined to a room?) and hope there is only one guy left, who presumably would have only a knife. Then I'd pop 'im.

I would sit down, cross my legs, and practice zazen.
