Incubation

I inoculated some jars the other day with Texans, EQ, and R44. I have them in just a box incubating with a heater in front of it. The thermometer inside says... 78 but the bottom jars a cooler.
Should I just turn the heater up? or insulate the bottom jars better?

wot ? wot kind of heater ? 78 is plenty enough .. i wouldnt mess with all the heater shit man it doesnt take much to cook ur myc or otherwise fuk them off .. also ur likely to suck the moisture out ur jars with the dry heat .. but that might be the last of ur worries .. ull be happy with the eq.s they'll likely finish ahead of the pack ..

Just let them colonize at room temperature. Higher temperatures is where contaminates thrive. If you absolutely need to incubate, then 78 is perfect. Be patient and put them in a cupboard. Check them next week.

I cannot use a cupboard, and the room temps are in the low low 60s. The R44 were the first to show germination signs.

Low 60s will be fine, they are a couple degrees warmer in the jar.
There is no need to add heat during incubation, but if you insist on it, don't let the jars get over 80, cause at 86 growth slows again.
A small space heater in your cultivation room should do fine to get you to room temp, which is fine for the entire cycle, IMHO.

Low low 60s won't kill anything it will just take quite a bit longer to colonize.
If you feel the need to incubate do so to about mid 70s, not into the 80s as a lot of people do. Even though low 80s is faster colonizing than mid 70s the increase in the contamination rate is big.
I say you'll be fine as you are.

i had to invest in a fishtank heater now that is the winter because my grow room is only 50 degrees, but in the summer it averaged in the 70s and incubated just in a rubbermaid tote, worked fine for me
