mantra and mushrooms
    #795666 - 08/04/02 01:19 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

What is the thought on doing mantra in the down time between mushrooms and at the same time together. Has anybody been able to make there experience synergistic and seamless. Is there any info out there.

The ones I've felt vibration or energy from are 'Om Namah Shivaya', 'Om Mani Padme Hum', 'Aum-een' or 'Om-een', or simply 'Om'.

I prefer "Om on the Range" or "Om Sweet Om".

Seriously though, a mantra is just a device to focus the mind. There is no power inherent in any word or phrase. A meaningless word may be best as it does not conjure up any associations to distract you.

"There is no power inherent in any word or phrase."
I disagree, also.

Words are sounds... vibrations. Just like music consists of vibration sequences. From my experience some types of music can help induce a trance state. I repeat my mantras.. which are in english... keep breathing deeply in and out. Yes, focusing until the exhales start to more or less make noises that an outsider might interpret as garble. However, if they were in their space they could perceive my intention. I've noticed I can keep breathing in and out constantly while saying OM at the same time... maintaining the same pitch and volume.
For instance from my experience... musicians tend to have what seems as garble lyrics... achieve your center to feel what they could not bring into words.
And if you haven't a chance to... I'd say read about ayahuasca and icaros.
Like dancing the hokey pokey until you find the rythem to wiggle all about.
Peace.

Words are sounds... vibrations.

Yes, and in theory, matter is vibrating energy. Does it not make sense that certain vibrations or sounds can have an effect on matter? I don't claim to know what words have power and which don't... all words probably have power. I just have read of various people using these mantras or phrases and decided to try them myself, and they worked for me. Thankyou.
