Gong? (Instrument)
    #7956119 - 01/30/08 03:28 PM (16 years, 2 days ago)

Has anyone heard a LIVE gong tripping before?

Im getting a desktop chinese wind gong, about 15" across, makes a light nice sound (by the websites sound sample) the £375 gong sounds deeply amazing!

I mean meditating listening to it would be good enough, but imagine meditating on shrooms and someone giving it a touch....Im getting excited just thinking about it!!!

A recent story i heard was about buddhists going to a western school and asking all the kids to close theyre eyes and listen to the sound of the gong move around, one childs mother asked him "i heard when you listen to the gong you can feel god, did you feel that?" the child replied "i WAS god!"

Have you heard it tripping?

Im hoping the one i got will work well, its just a bright sound not a deep sound like the big gongs. I think that combined with meditation and folowing the sound (& shrooms) its gonna be intense!

Yeah, it's a great idea. I wish to build a drumset by collecting exotic drums and cymbals - sucks that the exotic types are the more expensive ones. I want 4 different sized bongos, two congas, a couple of djembes (god damnit I'm getting this in a few weeks for sure, it's beautiful! http://images.guitarcenter.com/products/optionlarge/Remo/226355jpg.jpg), and of course a bass drum to kick with and I'll add a hihat and several cymbals. One can certainly play all of that with their hands - but I'll probably use some plastic drumsticks every now and then just for more range of techniques.

I cannot wait to complete my dream drumset... I might as well just buy a standard drumkit to begin with, and just use that as the base. That would be best, I believe..

And indeed, the gong will end up being the most expensive, but most explosive, piece of it all.

YEah drums are definitely fun while tripping. I tried playing my set on acid once and it was really difficult since everything kept speeding up
and slowing down. It was crazy, fun as hell though. Piano on shrooms was awesome too, my hands would like "flow" in and out of each other,
if that makes sense.

I played my brother's drumset alone in a shed peaking on mushrooms once. It was fucking amazing.

I summoned a demonic energy. Accidentally.

I'm the same way with playing guitar. Once I get into the right mindset I impress myself.

I see music as humans capturing the rhythm of life, when your tripping if you take the instrument you know best and meditate and play, tap into the rhytm of life, you will most certainly be impressed with what comes out.

Dont play what you know, unless maybe just to warm up, eventually your fingers and breath if you play wind will take over, you become one wit the instrument.

Sorry for the INSTRUCTIONS!!! but ive had incredible experiences doing that.

i think that's from a book called 'awakening the buddha within' by lama surya das.
