quick patching question
    #7955182 - 01/30/08 11:32 AM (16 years, 2 days ago)

i just put a casing layer on my monotub aND would like to know what the benefits of patching are.

is it nessasary?

after i patch the few spots at first that are growing fast do i then put the mono back into incubation until its a certain % colonized or do i put directly into fruiting after i patch.

my last mono run i just waiting until the casing was 30-40% colonized then put into fruiting & it turned out pretty good

thanks

The Theory on patching is that it gives the rest of the mycelium time to catch up...

It isn't necessary, but it can help even out the pinset.

You can put it into fruiting right after patching.

Hope this helps bud.

Sometimes patching is indeed necessary.
Overlay is the magic word, since the early spots of myc on the surface will probably grow on and develop overlay, while the rest of the myc tries to get to the surface. So patching is highly advised!

hyphae has an awesome pinning strategy tek which suggests to patch right before you put the casing in your FC

very neccesary.... makes them come up all at once ..better for picking. cause you can do it all at once.. better for yeild..cause you get one massive flush then you can move on to the next one.

case... wait three days...... patch the spots..... wait 2 - 3 days
