I think B+ have a HUGE likelyhood to deform and be hollow.
almost all the B+ I've harvested has been twisted, hollow, fat, crazy lookin fruits.
also its a slow colonizer... and there are just sooo many better strains out there. I don't think it really has much going for it.

I personally have had great success with b+ fruits. maybe the genetics were off on the spores you had. This fruit in my avatar was solid and almost a foot tall. It weighed 4.6 g cracker dry.

I'm confused on the difference between a "strain" and "isolate". Are they synonymous? Is a "strain" what you get when you buy a spore print or spore syringe, with all the different "types" of spores from different mushrooms? What are these different "types" of mushroom spores called, "sub-strains"?
Also, is it bad to bred a mushroom strain too pure, because of things like genetic disorders and "incest mating"?

Yes, it can be bad to limit genetics... look at inbreeding.
"Strain" is a confusing term. It means what you think it means, but vendors call different cube prints "strains" as well, like marijuana strains. They do this to identify different types of cubes for stoner n00bs (their main market). It is confusing for the linguistically minded scientists, but it also draws more business.
Good questions.

all P. cubensis are fairly easy to cultivate and are great from ralphsters. just pick what looks cool to you. make sure to request the SOTM(strain of the month) you get a freebie with your order.

Lol. If they have Penis Envy try that instead. It is repetitively reported to be the most potent, and I have personally had several good nights on less than a gram of Penis Envy. I love hearing objectionable, bias reports about which "strain" is "better" I am betting that he has had maybe 1 strain that he was told what they were and he decided that they were the best (placebo) I used to have one of these same thought processes only it surrounded the Treasure Coast Cubensis, now I know that most cubes are about the same for potency but have slightly varying experiences. Some have waves of fun, some hit you in the head a little more, some taste worse than others but the fact of the matter is 4g of cubensis is 4g of cubensis. If your after something thats actually more potent (more bang for the buck) go with a Panaelous species or just about any other wood loving mushrooms like Psilocybe Cyanescens or Psilocybe Azurescens.

Have fun. I suggest you pick a unique looking strain. Cubes ARE cubes, but some look different than others.

i had good luck with GT from ralphsters. mycellium colonized relatively fast and nice solid fruits.
can anyone suggest strains from areas with a long history of mushroom use? south america seems like a good place to start.

Then try South American Cubensis. They can get freakishly huge too.

I am growing out some Malabar right now and have been very happy with the aggressive growth that I have seen in these so far. I like to have some that are not so dime a dozen. It seems like some type are always being grown while others you only see every once in a while. I am sure things seem to go in cycles too. If someone takes a ton of prints and does a big give away you might see more of that type for a while.

as a matter of fact... no... no you dont.... from experience giving away 335 prints in 1 big giveaway... they get tossed aside and forgotten about till they are no longer viable.... I think ive seen like 5 growlogs from all 335 prints given away not to mention the ones sporeworks sold....

Well I stand correct, That's just nuts. Me I am more like a kid at Christmas I can't wait to start growing a new type once I get my hands on it. Next time you do a big give away like that let me know I'll make sure to grow it out if I get one.
