you dont need to have visible spores they will still work. there will still be thousands of spores in the syringe.
and no this isn't the right place to put this

They are fine. Visible spores can be a bad thing. Search this site for feedback on Sporeworks. They are legit and they sell quality spores. If you have any problems with your microscopy, just let them know. They'll bend over backwards for n00bs... just like the rest of The Shroomery's spore vendors.

nice thanks for the pics on the huautlas. and yeah sporeworks is one of the best websites to get spores they always hook you up with free shit and its the highest quality. The first time I ever got some I ordered from spores101 and only half my jars colonized they are complete shit.

This is for everyone,
let's stay on topic...
no Vendor talk in here...
please just ask your Cubensis strain questions and answer the questions if you know the answers.
if you wanna do some Vendor feedback go make a thread or make a post in the Sponsor/Vendor forum...
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/postlist.php/Cat/0/Board/18
thank you!~

Its very interesting something that I noticed. A vast majority of beginners seem to use the Cambodian strain. Its a weird phenomenon that I discovered. Interestingly enough I chose Cambodians for my first strain haha. Any ideas as to why?

I haven't noticed that...
B+, EQ's and GT's have always been some of the more popular beginner strains...in past years.
PE is starting to creep up the list these days.
IMO <- of course.
I've always liked the Cambos and the SA's...myself.

I'm a first timer and I have , Golden Teacher, And Cambo's. I guess it's becasue they are listed as easy to grow in places. Now that I've been hanging around here I now know that cubes are all the same as far as growing, some might look different.

General question. I am thinking about an outdoor patch or two or dozen. I have over 300 acres to play with. The question I have is more to do with the trip experience I guess so maybe it should be posted elsewhere so mods feel free to move it.
What is the differences between woodlovers and cubes?

I've asked this question in this thread already but have come across further info which made me unhappy about the answer I received. I bought my spore print from a head shop in Amsterdam (end of last year before they were outlawed) and the guy told me they were Mexican mushrooms. Some fella on here told me that the strain would be either Mexican cubensis or psilocybe Mexicana. I have since read on a few posts that these mexican mushrooms can fall into further subcatagories such as A-strain and B-strain. Is it likely that these spores are just any old cubensis strain and the guy simply said they were mexican in the hopes that it would peak my interest? I think not as they had more than one kind available... but I knew so little about the subject at the time that I didn't question him further. Any ideas? Will it be possible to identify them once I produce fruit?

I would say that they are likely to be psilocybe mexicana. I've never heard any psilocybe cubensis strain called Mexican besides Mazatapec. If you have access to a high powered microscope, then you can probably identify the species by examining the spores. I don't know anything about cultivating psilocybe mexicana but if the process is the same for cubes then I would inoculate some cakes with them. If you are familiar with cube mycelium then you could probably tell the difference between mexicana and cubensis mycelium. Psilocybe mexicana is called "the flesh of the gods" and is extremely potent.

I am not sure but I have some Jalisco which I think is close to the same thing and was told that it will grow the mycelium in a cake but will not fruit they need to be grown in grain. The one that I have I was told prefers rye see.

Ralphsterspores.com sells a Mexican cube from an Amsterdam coffee shop.
I doubt your print is Mexicana or the vendor probably would have told you. Also, Mexicana prints are rather small. If your print is larger then the size of a beer bottle cap, it is 99% certain to be a cube and not Mexicana.
You may never know for sure what the print came from.
Fortunately cubes and mexicana grow on similar substrates so either way, you have a chance at success.

OK, thanks a lot guys. I told the fella in the shop that I had no experience with growing shrooms, so he recommended this particular kind because they are easy to cultivate. Also the 3 prints I bought are definitely larger than a bottle cap. These two facts support the theory that I have a Mexican cubensis. I can't compare it to other mycelium that I've seen coz I've never seen ANY mycelium before! I have some growing out on plates. I'll post up a pic or 2 later on to see if that helps.
Thanks again
