I believe to get a good reproducing strain you need to cross PE with VE (vagina envy). Thank you, thank you. No need to applaud. I'll be here all week, try the veal.

Has there been any talk about opening a Strain Forum with sub forum's set for each of the strains rather than this beast of a thread?

It seems that some people know a lot about one strains characteristics but don't really do much with other types. It sure would make it easier to address issues directly.

Ok if P.E. is not a good spore depositor...why. Do any of you guys think it might be what we are giving it to eat. Where exactly did it come from if this is even know, or place of origin in the world. Suppose one could replicate the substrates that it is used to. After all, how could it of survived in nature without being able to produce spores? It might just be me but I think something is being missed here. I have had an interest in this "strain" for some time and am very curious about it. also been reading the thread in cultivatio "PE..Potent as Hell" and there is pretty much the same talk going around in there.

It does produce spores, but only very few. Maybe you don't understand the whole growing cycle in nature correctly. There it isn't just "toss the spent cakes and start a new grow". Mycelium, once established, can last hundreds of years. No need to drop spores to survive.

These "fairy rings" are caused by mycelium starting its grow in a spot in the center of that ring. Then the mycelium expands. Year after year the radius of the fairy ring will increase, which is an indicator of the spreading of the mycelium.

That is awesome pic. Now I was once told that part of the reason for the ring is that a lighting strike helps to fix the nitrogen in the soil. By fix I mean concentrating it.

I have a question regarding a variety named "Oak Ridge".  I was in the process of putting together a "How to make syringes" pictorial.  I chose to use an "Oak Ridge" print that I acquired about a year and a half ago.  Something that caught my attention was the color of the print.  It seemed to be "rust colored"  I've heard of the "Redspore", and the "Red boy" variety that tends to produce "Redish" spore prints.  Take a look at this print and tell me what you think.  Jeetered is banned so I don't know how to get a hold of him and ask him about it.

Is that color normal for that Variety?

No no, I don't mean that. I was more or less questioning is, is PE only from one spot on the planet, one little point, or is/were there multiple patches like other mushrooms. A patch here and a patch there. Sorta like regular cubes in nature?  By the way. Those fairy rings are cool as hell. Before they put in a new dairy quenn here, the plot of ground had two of them on it, but then the fuckers bulldozed it for DQ.

Why would anyone try and pass off a Redspore / Redboy for an Oak Ridge?

It has absolutely NOTHING to do with a lightning striking that spot.
In the beginning, you have some spores germinating in its center. Then, as time passes, the mycelium will go through cycles of spreading outwards, fruiting under the right conditions, growing outwards more and then fruiting again, wherever it's sitting on fresh nutes when the conditions are right. Since it's growing outwards from that central spot, the size of the ring will increase each year. You'll be able to determine the age of a colony of mycelium in the wild by looking at the diameter of the fairy ring.
Mushrooms are the most awesome organisms I can think of. They are more closely related to animals than to plants, too (in case you didn't know), as unlike plants they cannot synthesize their own nutrients, but rely on an outside source of food. They just digest it externally and then take up the broken up nutes.

Well, I just searched my PM's from way back then and found the person I made that trade with.  He acquired then from the Original Print Giveaway by Jeetered back in 9/07.  I made that trade with him 10/07, so it fits in the same time frame.  I wish someone that was around back then and remembers that "Giveaway" would chime in.  Does anyone have an Oak Ridge print "on hand"?

Yes, I do. They're all the same dark purplish color as other standard Cubensis prints.
