The original prints of this strain were collected growing in the Garden of a Hotel in Panama City. Isolated and introduced by yours truly. I’m  certain you will find this strain quite prolific and potent.

got this info from ralphster. next time dont be such a douche and wave your e-penis around.

pretty much though a cube is a cube there is just differences in looks some can be more potent then others but grows from multispore (spore syringes) can vary drastically.

Yeah it took about 2 weeks almost for the pins to come through on my last wbs project. I think it is just the substrate, wbs is way better mixed in with coir. Res effect does definitely help though.

Workman posted something new and interesting in his journal. Looks like he is attempting to categorize cubes by growing multiple 'Strains' in the same conditions.

Anybody who has been following this discussion should take a look.

Workman said:
Classification of Psilocybe cubensis strains.  The first of many strains to be assessed.  Microscopic features will be added later in an effort to classify cubensis strains into a few closely related types.

Standardized cultivation parameters:

Culture: Multispore unless otherwise noted
Substrate: 1 cup (250 ml) sterilized grass seed.
Casing: Peat with 10-15% calcium carbonate (chalk) by volume, pasteurized.
Temperature: 78-80F
Humidity: 90% with periodic hand misting as needed.
Substrate is removed from quart jars and placed into standard black trays, cased and immediately put into fruiting chamber at above environmental settings.

Note:  Features of each strain can differ with changes in environment, substrate and differences arising from multispore cultures.  Different spore sources may also provide very different versions under the same strain name.  Your mileage will vary.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strain: B+ (Type 2)
Source: Sporeworks.com
Days from casing: 13
Description: Brown caps that flatten and fade with age, yellow thin hollow stems, membranous annulus that separates well from the cap and persists neatly on the stem.  Good spore production.

Comments:  This seems to be the more common B+ strain currently circulating but it is not the original B+ (Type 1).  This version inadvertently replaced the original when Sporeworks merged with Shroom Depoe and its origins are unclear.  With earlier production and superior printing over the original B+ (see below) its not surprising that it has replaced the original without notice.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strain: B+ (Type 1)
Source: Revived from original stored spores from 1999.
Days from casing: 15
Description:  Reddish-cinnamon caps that never flatten out completely, somewhat viscid, very thin and hollow yellow stems, membranous annulus that shreds and clings to the cap edge.  Good to moderate spore production.

Comments:  The original B+ strain that was once claimed to be a warm fruiting strain of Psilocybe azurescens.  The tendency of the veil to cling to the cap edge interferes with printing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strain: Falbino - Albino (clone)
Source: The Chosen One - Mycotopia member
Days from casing: ~20
Description:  Varietal hybrid of the F+ and PF Albino strains.  Pure white caps with occasional bluish tints especially in the center, often flattening out completely in age.  Stems are short under good air exchange but are often much longer and tend to bend as the mushroom matures.  Membranous annulus persists on the stem but is ragged.  Spores are pure white and spore production is low but better than other white spored strains.

Comments:  Superior to the PF albino parent which often aborts.  Young mushrooms start off growing straight but lose their way after the veil breaks.  This stem bending is associated with the switch from phototropism to gravitropism at the onset of spore maturity.  The gravitropic response is faulty and is likely related to the albinism and/or reduced spore production.  A similar stem bending effect is seen in the Penis Envy strain.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strain: Ecuador
Source: Sporeworks.com
Days from casing: 17
Description: Robust dark brown pins with large white scale-like flakes of the universal veil that remain as "spots" at maturity.  Caps large, flattening at maturity with a slight umbo that remains dark as the rest of the cap fades to a lighter brown.  Stem yellow, bulbous at base, mostly solid.  Annulus as ragged remnants on the stem.  Moderate spore production.

Comments:  Slower to mature than thinner stemmed strains but makes up for it in increased flesh density and larger size.  Easy to harvest and doesn't pull up large amounts of the casing when picked.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strain: Penis Envy (HT clone)
Source: Sporeworks.com
Days from casing: 19
Description:  Reduced brown caps that never flatten.  Stem yellow and robust and mostly solid, similar to Ecuador (see above) with which it may be related.  Stem bends (see Falbino) and often swells just below cap when very mature.  Annulus almost nonexistent leaving only a faint trace on the stem.  Spore production poor.  Easy to harvest and doesn't pull up large amounts of the casing when picked.

Comments:  A mutated strain, popular due to its high flesh density and reportedly very high potency.  This strain continues to grow for some time after the cap separates from the stem.  Harvest for maximum yield should be delayed until growth slows or stops.  The tendency of the stem to bend or droop after the veil breaks is from a lack of a normal gravitropic response.  This version (HT) has been subjected to an antiviral heat therapy designed for eliminating viruses in Agaricus bisporus. This therapy has been known to reinvigorate strains even without a viral infection and seems to have increased colonization rate significantly.

Ralphster's website gives this description of the "A" strain.

The A strain cubensis is a strong culture and average colonization times.
Prolific fruiter with beautiful pins with caps covered in warts.
This strain tends to have very large fruit that sporulate heavily. Easy to fruit strain and a classic.

I have seen some posts that claim the "A" strain is P. mexicana.
Is there more than one "A" strain?
It sure ain't "very large".

I recommend the "A" strain from Ralphsters for microscopy studies only.

Anybody have any idea on this shroom or even if it is a shroom? it reminds me of some kind of Chlorophyllum but it smells nice and has pure white gills.

This photo and the photo on Ralphsters are very different.
http://www.ralphstersspores.com/index_files/Page611.htm
The photo on Ralphsters doesn't look like mexicana.

Are there two different "A Strains"?
Or is there an "A Strain" and a "Strain-A" and both are different?
Why wouldn't Ralphsters say in their description that the A Strain is mexicana?

Seems strange to me . . .

Oh, I hadn't noticed you posted two links for the two different A Strains.
I guess that settles it!
Thanks for the info.

A little reading would answer all your questions.

A simple search would too.

Mexicana is not a cube.

There is a Cubensis Strain A and a Mexicana A strain.

To learn more... read. Hey, this has even been discussed already in this very thread.

I read some posts about the confusion and was trying to figure out why the results of this particular product appeared so different than the website's description.
(very tiny)

The web descriptions generally match up quite well with results.

Like I said, ONE is a cubensis... and one is not.

It is like comparing a Colorado maple tree and a Colorado spruce... sure they're both trees from Colorado...
