Well, first it's called BURMA and second DOES it fruit from cakes, such as these:

Cubes stay Cubes and therefor it doesn't matter at all, what strain it is. It's still the same species

We need such thing as strain library, where everyone, who's interested can look up their prefered strains. The first words in this thread should be: A cube is a Cube, so they all need the same conditions in growing!!! or something equal :stoned: *this has nothing to do with you Jihad!*

Damn, every time, I see this site again, I get really angry...
How fucked up this MoFo has to be, to totally rip off newbies?
Actually everyone who buys stuff from the internet, without comparing prices before is a total moron, but this just sucks. Even the try should be punished...

I've eaten Ps. Cyanescens from four different countries of Europe and one time some that came from Seattle.
In my very own opinion, the ones I find in Germany are stronger than the other ones I've eaten, which surprised me quiet a lot, but then again, I've heard people say, that they harvest them every year, and the keep being quiet weak, in comparison to others they've eaten, so there seem to be differences in potency, depending on where the fruits come from.
I can't say that "mine" are the strongest ones, since they might have been a little more fresh than the other ones, or I was just lucky, but the circumstances they were consumed in were more or less identical.

All I can say is, that I had GREAT times with this species. In my opinion it provides the nicest trip of all the species I had yet, which were the following:

- Ps. cubensis
- Ps. Azurescens
- Ps. Cyanescens
- Ps. Semilanceata
- Ps. Mexicana
- Ps. Bohemica
- Pan. Cyanescens
- Pan. subbalteatus

The Azures were the strongest ones by far, although I don't really like their kind of trip, which sometimes is too rough to enjoy it.
Pan. Cyanescens are also very nice and very visual, without being too mind fucking.
As I said, Ps. Cyanescens are my favorite mushrooms to trip on, since their trip is very moving and colourful (so great visuals), a VERY nice body high and they seem not to fuck with your mind at all.
I also like Ps. Semilanceata very much, though they very VERY much in potency, which can be quiet annoying, since you have either a shitty or a too strong trip (hihi, I never dosed correctly yet  ).

Cubes are very exhausting in my opinion, since you need quiet some for a nice and moving trip, while the dose you need for that, often causes disorientation etc. (in my opinion as well as in the ones of my tripping buddies).

I only Pan. subbs, Ps. bohemica and Ps. mexicana once, the subbs and the Mexicans weren't too cool, while the bohemica were also quiet rough BUT very visual. The down comming was VERY unpleasant but that's something that happens from time to time and no criterion to "rate" a mushroom.
I guess I had too little of the Ps. mexicans and the subbs were just not too cool... Dunno how to say it... It just didn't feel right.

Anyway, after all that above talked bull shit, my opinion on Potency (at least of the mushrooms I had yet)is as followed:

- Ps. azurescens
- Pan. cyanescens
- Ps. bohemica
- Ps. cyanescens
- Ps. semilanceta
- Ps. cubensis
- Ps. mexicana
- Pan. subbalteatus

Even the unique strains, such as Koh Samui sometimes look completely "normal".

This is a current grow of Koh Samuis I have going on, and although I expected something like the above posted pics, something like this developed:

Doesn't look like Koh Samui, doesn't it

It seems that the sad truth is: A cube IS and STAYS a cube

We'll see... I've only done them once, so I can't compare it.

I'll have some Koh Samui Super Strain colonizing right now, and from what I've seen (the fruits the print came from), I'm lookin' forward to see something looking -at least- more like they're supposed to look.

And Cervantes: HAAAAAPPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

This is what you get from me: :breakfast: ... A Toast with a fried egg laying on it. Enjoy your meal :lighter:

When I took a look at TheHawksEye yesterday I remembered what you said Foo, and checked out the Koh Samui section again.

The pics that were posted and are claimed to be Koh Samui (the original strain, show pretty much the growth you claimed to be typical for KSSS (which is something I don't want to argue about, since it's fact)), but it also shows, that Koh Samui looks actually the same, maybe with a greater affection to look like a normal cube, but nevertheless, it still is proclaimed to look like:

Koh Samui Classic - Thehawkseye

I'm almost sure you had a look at them before, but this is somewhat obvious, isn't it.
I'm sure that this site tells the "truth" about this strain, at least more than most of the others, since the prints are from the actual sources, which they stay in contact with.

I've seen my own Koh Samuis and know, that they can look like other cube around, but so does every other strain (with very few exception, though I had PE's growing that also just look like any other cube strain).

From what I've read Koh Samuis are supposed to look like the ones above or in your pictures but maybe tend to look more like a normal cube, more than he KSSS strain.

The grow parameters are the same as for any other cube.
It's the same species, so it needs the same environment!

These are aspects that ain't proven and therefore I won't state them as facts.

Penis Envy is mostly done with Mono Tubs (which are mostly done with straw), for the fruits are very dense and people want to achieve good results with plenty of fruits, so they need lot's of substrate (otherwise there'd be only a few fruits), with Orissa India it's the same game, since they tend to be enormously big. As far as I know it's not advised to do them on cakes (same reason as for PE's), that's all and cold shocking is a myth. It doesn't help fruiting at all, since cubes are tropical species, that are never confronted with a thing such as coldness. They mycelium can handle it but it's not helping with results!

Golden Teachers are just as easy to grow as all the other cubes around.

Quote:

search for peoples pesa logs.. tons of people compare cold shocking to non cold shocking and get better results.

I guess we first have define what cold shocking means.
Dunking a cake and storing it in the fridge for 24 hours ain't cold shocking but just dunking, which is done in the fridge because the coldness slows down bacterial growth.
That's what people normally do and yes, it really helps, since the substrate absorbs water this way.
Actual cold shocking is to reduce temperature drastically for several days and doesn't benefit to the growth of cubensis, simply because they are a (sub) tropical species.
Real cold shocking is only necessary for cold weather mushrooms!

All south American strains tend to be rather large.
At least as far as I know and as far as I have experienced.
It's known for the South American strain, to be one of the biggest in the word, such as these two fucks here:

All South American strains I've grown were fairly large, which were South American, Brazil and Amazon.

hey, im looking for some good strains to observe outdoors here in florida. right now the weather is perfect for me, a little chilly at night and a little under fruiting humidity. the summers can be very hot between 85 and 95 on most days with a humidity about 80-100%. it rains almost every day during the summer for an hour or 2. i know all strains will grow and probably fruit outside, but some will do better than others given certain conditions. please PM me as i do not check this thread.

these strains have all caught my interest

these strains have all caught my interest for being good outsiders...
MexiCube - fast, easy & versatile grower. continues flushing over and over within same week. fruits from 50F to 90sF, good for summer.
"A" Strain - Strong culture, average colonizer. prolific & easy to fruit. likes hot temps, good for summer according to roadkill.
Orissa India - large fruits, potent, rhizomorphic. the large fruits this strain produces aught to be able to soak up all the water it gets. i can only hope this indian enjoys the heat.
Puerto Rican - extremely rhizomorphic, aggressive colonizer. excellent potent fruiter with fairly large caps.
Texas Goliad - dense fruits, medium size. exceptionally well on straw-based substrates. above average flusher, "youll have your hands full!"
Peru - Excellent on dung. Medium to large caps. Very good, even pinset, never have seen an abort. At least 4-6 flushes. Resistant to contams.
Texan - Super dense fruits, small but firm. very little water weight, dries rock hard without shrinking much. prolific fruiter at -little to no light-. texas is just as hot as florida.

i have considered virgin island strain, and huautla/oaxaca. im sure F+ would do magnificently here. i would also assume that most strains from mexico would do well in the summer.

please post any strains you know of that do well outside. perhaps we could collect enough data to make a table of strains with their strengths/weaknesses under different conditions being listed.

peace & good luck

Even if you lived in Miami, you could drive out of town for an hour, check on a cow field and with a little luck, you should be able to actually find cubes, you could take prints off and cultivate outside later on.

Since all cubes grow under the same grow parameters, there's no difference in what strain you choose.

And taking growing info from a vendors site (even if it' thehawkseye), isn't wise, for vendors stay vendros and try to seel their stuff. Means they advertise their products in a way that seems to makes all strains different, so people buy.
Although there are certain differences in cubes (actually it's just tendencies of looking different, except for SOME strains, such as PE or OI), often different strains look and grow pretty much the same way.

So it doesn't really matter what strain you get!

Quote:

I have heard all this talk about PESA being so potent but I tried PESA for my first time after my PF cake grow and it was pretty weak. I ate about 2-2/2 grams dry and didn't get much of a high. The Oaxaca I had tried a few weeks ago was much better. I'm disappointed.

I don't know if this is the right place for this but here's my 2 cents. If anyone has any ideas on the more potent strains they have tried I'd love to hear them.

If you would have read just a little bit more, it would have come to your, that cubes are mostly cubes!
It's mostly depending on the specific genetics of a particular strain what potency you get. Other factors ain't sure yet, because they haven't been professionally investigated so far.
The differences in potency are minimal and from time to time, you get completely inactive fruits, no matter what strain you deal with.

PESA is just as potent as any other cube around and you just had bad luck with your strain. That's all.
You should grow them once more and you should see, that it's capable of good potency!

For example here.

Anyway, this wasn't the actual thread I took this statement from...

I remember a thread about these where the original poster didn't know what he found, but he told, that they were pretty potent with an somewhat acid like trip.
This is a very subjective topic, therefore I said they are "supposed" to be pretty potent
