n00b Question
    #7955038 - 01/30/08 10:45 AM (16 years, 2 days ago)

I'm on my first grow right now: brf/verm pf tek cakes B+. The jars colonized quickly at about 84F, I gave them an extra week then I dunked them for about 16 hours and rolled them in verm. They are now in the fruiting chamber. Its a plastic container with several inches of perlite, and is about 72F. I've been fanning and misting. Not really sure how to do either though. The humidity stays at like 99% do you still need to mist? After a week nothing happened. I added an aquarium air pump thinking the extra fresh air would help. Its now been like a week and a half and still nothing. Haven't even really seen any mycelium growth. I realize it can take weeks sometimes before you seen pins, but these seemed to start out so strong, and I would think you would at least see some mycelium growth by now. Any ideas?? Thanks!

I don't know but I've been told. It's hard to run with the weight of gold                                                                  On the other hand I heard it said. It's just as hard with the weight of lead.

Have it near a window, but it gets no direct sunlight.

your set up sounds fine. You need to mist to keep the cake from forming rhizomorphs. the water touching the cakes helps it go from vegitave to fruiting. Everything you have sounds good so just wait. I am sure there are knots on it but you just do not know what you are looking for.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Sometimes it just takes a fuckin' long time, for cakes to fruit. Same with casings. I have Aussies going on right now, and they are in the FC for 1.5 weeks now. Just yesterday they started pinning.
Just be patient!

Are you misting with an emptied out cleaner bottle of some sort by chance? Just a thought. Re-using old bottles can not only cause mutations but it can also cause a cake not to pin at all.

WTF?? Primordia form from rhizomorphic mycelium. We mist to replace the moisture that evaporates.
