You can use a very small clay pot with a good cactus mix. And, don't water it directly, but the saucer below it.

Sterilize the substrate and be patient.

You have to create a high humidity envoirment for the baby seedlings, then slowly acclimate them.

At my local nursery all the baby cacti are kept in an extremely hot and humid green house. Most cacti stay in there until they are about 1ft tall.
They are watered periodically, the soil should not be kept wet. Sounds to me like a root infection of sorts.

what kind of cacti are these lophorora? They sometimes can take a while to germinate. What I do is get a plastic pot and put my soil in it, then water the soil. After that take your seeds and sprinkle them over the surface. Get a piece of plastic wrap and a rubber band and secure the plastic wrap over the top of the pot. Then put somewhere warm where there is some sun. I put a heating pad under mine to encourage germination. I just did that with my seeds and it took about two weeks for all of them to germinate. Even after all of them have germinated keep the plastic wrap over the top. It will help your plants grow alot. And whatever you do , do not put your seedlings under a growlight for a while, it will hinder their growth

Im also attempting to germinate seeds as we speak, I think mine has been germinating for 6-7 days now so we'll see how they turn out.
I too might end up retrying here in 2-3 months when its warmer outside.

Here's one thing to try...
Since you have some canning jars with holes in the lid, get some tiny clay pots that fit into the jars (I got them from other little cacti at the mart), water, and keep the lid on for at least a month (watering occasionally).
Some people start them in little strawberry container boxes, etc. You can also put plastic over a larger clay pot, but be very careful when wattering, because the roots aren't deep yet and you can knock them over.

I really like that idea of starting them in a canning jar. I wish I would have thought about that sooner. I have them in 6'' diameter pots right now starting, Im going to get some little water trays and start bottom feeding them tomorrow hopefully.
