holes in my tyvek
    #7951688 - 01/29/08 06:03 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

ok so i recently inoculated a few jars as outlined by roger rabbit in his vid and when im done i noticed that the syringe left holes in the tyvek. Tiny as they are, i don't want to take any chances.

Are these holes normal and how to people cope with them?

I simply put some scotch tape over the holes. Hopefully they don't get contammed.

Micropore tape. If scotch tape stuck OK, it will work too. You didn't see needles sticking through tyvek on the dvd, although you can. In fact, instead of tyvek, you can use micropore tape over the holes in the lid, and after inoculation, place a second piece of micropore tape over the wound.

i use masking tape on all my tyvek holes.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

RR. soory about the misinterpretation on your DVD. I did not see you actually inoculate via the holes in the lid. I guess i just assumed that the holes were there for places to inoculate as well as breather holes.

The scotch holds well by the way. Thanks for all your advice.
