I'm diggin' it. Didn't really like it much at first, but it's growin' on me. Roflcopter is the best track. Especially the vocal sample he uses. And then the Robert Anton Wilson sample is great on "Messages from Bob". I'll keep listening because his bass melodies are so damn infectious.

Thanks so much, in the middle of listening to it. Sounds much like a combo of his first album and older infected mushroom stuff. Full review when I'm done with it!

heres a review directly from twisteds forums, i thought it fit the album perfectly
Quote:
From Trunch to Stromness
We begin our journey in an Italian cafe in a cave smack in the middle of the Amazon. Lots of shrooms on the pizza. The intro -over three minutes long- glides us gently into Ott's familiar head bobbing filtered drums and ever-prominent grooving bassline and punchy kick. Delicate bell-like melodies give way to a rising synth arpeggio that propel the listener on a bed of swelling pads and swirling textures.
Queen of all Everything
Nothing like this tune to float me away on a big pillow on an ocean on some distant planet lit by three suns. That lead absolutely sings. One of the most expressive melodies I've ever heard, evoking feelings of heart-wrenching longing. Great use of that subtle human breath. Steadily rising tension leads to a wonderful release by the soulful lead once again.
Rogue Bagel
Even tastier than the Jewish delis make 'em. This is more classic Ott at his happy, bouncy, dubby best. Hand drums and an ethic vocal sample opens it up, giving way to a taste of another wailing synth lead. A male followed by female vocal part soon follow. Can't understand them? Don't worry, you'll be singing along anyway after a few listens. Plucky guitar stabs pull your head up and have you reaching for the joss stick, or what have you. A wonderful sitar and flute take us out, carried along by the jamming hand drums and fat pad.
Daisies and Rubies
Just when you thought it couldn't get any dubbier... We begin with more swirling filtered drums and Ott's much loved squelchy echo bouncing a heavenly vocal hither and thither in the stereo field. And what about the bassline? It just creeps along wonderfully, making you unsure whether to bob your head up and down or left and right. A catchy vocal comes next, making you smile at each breathy end. The solo consists of pulling one's head apart with echo play extraordinaire. More filtered drums lift us up, bursting into the next section, highlighted by a super-mellow melodica, then... Luscious swirling pads reveal themselves under fading squelchy drums. The outro does not go on long enough, however. At over a minute long, I still wanted more.
Signals From Bob
An odd time-stretched vocal sample starts us off, followed by a bassline that had me more whipping my head back and forth rather than bobbing. Just for a moment. The next, and main bassline had me bobbing down close to the floor here, to the point my head nearly fell off. Knees bent groovin' to da riddim. Just nasty. If your lips aren't pursed here, you aren't feelin' it. A soulful sitar carries us along next, followed by a return to that simply filtthy bassline. What sounds like an African vocal sample will let you fly for a bit until you're pulled back to earth with the intro sample, head-whipping bass, hand drums, and tension filled synth arp. Great big fat pads come next, setting you free to spread your aural wings. Growing in scope, pulsating in time with the bass, they surround you, finally setting you gently back onto the ground. But on which planet?
382 Seaside
Seagulls and a thoughtful flute open this one up, followed by a slide guitar, evoking feelings of floating freely on the open water during a beautiful sunset. A sweet female lead vocal comes next. Delicate flute/bell sounds give way to a bridge consisting of gorgeous, fat pads. The female lead returns abruptly, building us up, accompanied by swelling, phased pads, which next underscore the slide guitar. We are led out by more pulsing, phased pads, slide strings, and ocean waves lapping against the shore to the tune of seagulls once again. Listen to this in bed and you can almost feel the boat rocking.
Roflcopter
More signature fat pads belie the fonk that is to come. Built up from a filtered version, the full thing explodes into an obesely fat rhythm led by a disgustingly sick squelchy line. Pursed lips and a sneer will inevitably occur upon playing this one. A chopped up sample precedes the full version, which turns out to be a pretty accurate description of modern life. Next comes the funkiest sitar lead I've ever heard, leading into a bridge consisting of hand drums and ethereal male vocal sample. We're quickly brought back to the main groove, whipped into it by the bassline, while bits and pieces of echoed parts fly around us. A rising synth arp carries us out, leaving us wanting more.
A Shower of Sparks
Ambient Ott at his finest here. Filtered drums start us off, and a vocoded voice gives us a message that should always be remembered. A flute lead follows, followed in turn by a vocal melody, rising, inspirational, sublime. Gentle synth arps fill the background and propel us forward, while the lead vocal carries us upward. The essential message repeats in the background, forming the bridge leading to grooving hand drums, guitar, trippy effects. We then ascend from the plateau, on the wings of the lead vocal, carried higher and higher into the clouds. Giant pads embrace us all the way, until we reach space, at which point we turn around, surrounded by a million twinkling stars, and admire the earth in all her glory. Perfect end to a masterpiece of an album.

I love how the vocal sample in Roflcopter is cutup to sound like he's rapping. It's fucking brilliant.
And if anyone really cares, the African vocal sample mentioned in the Signals from Bob track was used in Banco de Gaia's song called No Rain off his Magical Sounds of Banco de Gaia album. I just remembered smiling when I heard Ott use it.
If no one has heard that Banco album, I HIGHLY recommend it.

I'm just getting into Ott...I have to say I MUCH prefer Blumenkraft to Skylon. Skylon is a beautiful sonic experience, don't get me wrong, but it's just so much more airy and atmospheric in places than Blumenkraft is, it fails to just grab me and get me bouncing sometimes, except for some songs.

Roflcopter is definitely the best. Gets me freakin' out in my living room like nobody's business.

YOu must check out his Hallucinogen in Dub album if you already haven't?
Also checkout his tracks as Gargoyles and Umberloid. Gargoyles is Ott + Posford.
