Cats and lsd

Is there some study that has been done regarding cats being around someone tripping on lsd and their sensitivity regarding said person? Because I become like a cat MAGNET when I am tripping. What's that all about, anyway? I've had some effed up trips turned right by a feline companion.

Nobody else? There has to be a study that's been done on this.? If there isn't then there should be!

It's interesting, and sounds like it may have some substance. I see a corelation between cats and tripping... they seem to be living in a trip! Unfortunately I have nothing to offer this study, as I've never had access to LSD and a cat. And I live with a cat.

Damn. That sucks! You've never tried lsd? Do you like mushroom trips or have you yet to try those as well?

Dude, I know what you mean, but cats just seem to "know" when someone isn't right inside, whether they are tripping or not.
My cats always turn into love sponges when I am upset.
Once I had a girlfriend who was having a rough trip on LSD and one of my cats, a young kitten, wouldn't leave her side for nine hours. He just wanted to be around her, even though he didn't know her and he was a shy kitten.
Kinda interesting.

I have tried LSD one time, and it completely blew my mind. I got it from a friend who went to Bonnaroo. I tripped at the guy's house, and he didn't have a cat. I've bought 'hits of acid' on a few occasions afterward and they were bunk. Had to be, because it didn't even compare to my first experience. Wasn't even in the same category. I just got tense and jittery.
And I am familiar with the mushroom. Around 20 trips. Even compared to my only LSD trip, I enjoy mushrooms a bit more. I enjoy their abstractedness. But I like the freedom that L grants. I do miss it, after 5 years, and wouldn't mind repaying a visit. It's a shame I haven't been able to find the real deal in that long.

My cats just give me odd looks when I'm tripping. They know something's up, but they're too lazy to investigate.

Wouldn't that be something if cats are normally tripping anyway, and when they rub against you, that's their way of saying: "Its about time you joined me!"

Cats are Zen Masters. They are just pure awareness - there's nothing there.
Once I was tripping pretty hard off a few bong hits at a friend's house. My body was going crazy, pain was shooting up and down my spine, thoughts were all over the place.
My friend's cat came over to me and I pet it. When my mind drifted it would head-butt my hand and make me concentrate on petting it, on feeling the warmth of its body, the texture of its fur, the rhythm of its breathing. The overwhelming vibration emanating from it was Be Here Now, Be Here Now, Be Here Now
Then the door-bell rang and for a split second the thought came that it might be the police, and a flood of conditioned paranoia washed over me. The cat mimicked my paranoia, stiffening up and staring at the door. Its motions and expression looked almost human. It was mirroring my inner reaction, to almost comic effect.
They are powerful creatures. Anyone who has one as a tripping partner is lucky.

My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

I guess it is so because she can sense my utterly positive tripping vibes and she just wants a part of it. And I ain't jealous when it comes to sharing good vibes.

Most of those are fake. I've seen dogs on acid too - very questionable video.

seriously. what legitimate knowledge was the researcher trying to gain? it's not like the cat could explain what it was going through.
Hypothesis: LSD will seriously freak out a cat. Cat was given 25 mcgs of lsd... Cat freaked the fuck out... Hypothesis confirmed.
congratulations brainiac.

THere is this group of meditation that a friend of mine was going and they had this hindu ritual, I am not sure if that was the oneinvolved with the burn of cow patties. Anyway, everytime this was performed which was in a garden, the cats from around would stand on the edges of the walls around the garden, say more than a dozen.

Yeah, cats know when you're 'different'. My cat is a total lap cat. I can't ever sit down and she wants to jump in my lap. But when I'm trippin she is completely different with me. Not stand-offish really, just doesn't make a point of jumping on me. She'll sit at the opposite end of the couch or on the floor near me, but she won't want to be on me. Mind you, this is a cat that will never leave me alone any other time. Wierd.

i've not had lsd yet (haven't been able to get my hands on it), but i did shrooms last night and my kitty ignored me the entire time - he even stayed at the other end of the house. now once when i was freaking out cos 3 of my fish died when i was away, he stayed close by but wouldn't set foot in my room. he seems to be a very confused cat who can't really comfort human beings, y'know? i wonder why that would be...anyone have cats who have given you the cold shoulder when you're tripping on anything?

I figure that something bad did happen to him when he was young, because I bought him from a man off of a classified site and he was obviously the runt of the litter. He was tiny (possibly not the full 8 weeks he should have been), and his meow was a quiet scratchy breath. He is most likely inbred; his tail is half-size (though this is very cute! ), and our vet said it hadn't been cut off or anything violent like that. Throughout the last year i've had him he went from hating humans to loving us in moderate doses; he loves strangers regardless of who they are, and he loves to lie on my chest and cuddle. 8)

Hey Bliss,
I have a animal story....during the break up with myself and my GF I started to drink and use drugs a bit more than normal....well really just alcohol really heavy the illicit drugs a little more but not excessive. I was however eating a good deal of tank (N2o) as I owned 2-20 lbs and one 10 lb tanks. Anyway, I had been punishing myself with Alcohol, Tank and Cocaine.
After an all night bout of all of the above the sun came up and I needed to go to work, I hopped into the shower. When I got out of the shower man something was wrong. I got this really loud thumping noise in my ears, not like Thump of a drum but a sort of faded up bass hit. Anyway, I started to stagger when I noticed that my vision was going from tunnel to normal, tunnel to normal over and over and my heart rate was off the charts.
I went into the living room and laid on my stomach and really feared for my life when all of sudden our cat, all 17 lbs of him (he was a big, not fat, but BIG kitty) jumped onto my bare back.....this cat doesn't do stuff like that, he will come to you and maybe he gets on the bed beside you, but he NEVER jumps on you.
That instant feeling of him on my back and all that fur instantly calmed me and all of the things that were happening to me stopped. It almost felt like someone dropped the cat onto my back.....
Man I was worried and the cat literally brought me back.
So anyway, animals sense things I think.

They definitely sense things, but what they sense is what enthralls me. Cats KNOW when someone/something's not right or normal. I just think it's awesome. I love cats and dogs like they were humans. I get along with them way more than I get along with most humans too. So strange...

i may be mistaken but i remember reading somewhere that LSD didn't take any affect on animals. I dunno if it's true.
but blissed yea i dunno cat's definitely can sense something is up. i remember doing a low dose of DMT once and my cat just came over and rested on my chest. whenever i'm tripping he just seems more affectionate and curiously looking at me more. maybe our perception of their behavior is altered.. but who knows...
one more thing.. you should come to NY for the East Coast Coachella instead of camp bisco.. that's delaying your visit another month but it hink it'll be a better time.. RADIOHEAD NIGGA!

I've had great experiences with cats and drukqs.
I provided someone with acid once and she was having a somewhat unpleasant trip.... not a bad one but certainly not comfortable.
I watched my cat stay by her side the whole night. He was like a trip adviser to her.
In addition, every time I have smoked reefer with a cat in the house, it will come and try and join in the circle. It's like they enjoy the contact high and they feel closer to you... like you are more in their state of mind.
At least that's my thoughts.

The line up's kinda weak, so far, but there are some good bands. Camp Bisco is in the schedule, regardless. I just might come up there earlier. Plans, plans, plans. I just have to work it out to where I have money for it all, while still supporting Elijah, you know?
Coachella's a definite possibility, though.

Good thread.
My parents have a cat, and when I lived with them I used to go play with her while I was tripping. Her domain was in the basement, as was my room so we got along great. When I was tripping though, I really felt like she could sense it.
I had the idea that she was an old wise soul. A female that solved the death/rebirth riddle so to speak, and managed to reincarnate consciously in this cats body and lived a life of total bliss and was always tuned into the source light.
But then again, I was high as a kite when I came up with this little gem of an idea..

I am with you on the old soul thing. I was having a seriously intense trip abou spirituality and such, when this cat walked up to me out of nowhere. I perceived this cat as a symbol of all of the temptations that have presented themselves to me. It really blew my mind at the time. The cat ended up loving on me and sitting in my lap. I've never seen this cat before or since. It was bizarre.
