i am incubating some cakes in a TIT that never goes above 81 or below 79( been incubating for 3 weeks). many of the cakes are doing well but one of them the myc seems to have stopped growing. there is a small circle about the size of a quarter where i knocked it up but surrounding this myc is a big patch of tan stuff. and the rest of the cake is white except for the area surrounding that one spot. is this a contam or just slow colonization? i opened the jar and it smells like cubensis, no bad smell at all. the syringe was 4 years old (Z strain). there is a grayish white transparent growth covering the tan spot whcih i think is myc that just stoped growing. also there is quite a bit of condensation in the jars.

maybe try flipping your jar over, let it continue to colonize while sitting on its lid. that had always helped me encourage my mycelium to continue to colonize.

Cubensis mycelium will very rarely, if ever, be "grayish white" as you describe it. Isolate that jar away from your others for a few days, because the color you're describing sounds like it could be something else like cobweb or maybe a black mold of some type getting ready to pop up.
Keep an eye on it, a couple days will be all you need to know whether or not it's a contam. They tend to grow like wildfire compared to mycelium.

100% sure that water got into your jars when you cooked them. They are water logged.
-------------------- Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

I don't ever even use an incubator anymore. Once I stopped everything conolizes so quick now. Room temp, above the fridge in a shoebox.
