hello all, one of the most recent land is the area in central america, and is said the last continental place to emerge perhaps was Nicaragua, the land of lakes and volcanos , volcanos that create the hole country , and now protected ,and give new life to the fertilize lands, right in the north.west part is the volcano cosiguina, and in his slopes this story take place,
in this area in where a small river born , half of the of the many affluent spring that fed it , are from hot springs water, the rest are from cold water, i bath here in the morning in the hot side, mi own jacuzzi bountifully.
as in all tropical areas many mushrooms grow primary on wood
enciclia orchid growing in a mangrove tree call botoncillo locally
still no id butterfly , help is always welcome. pycnoporus sp i guees this one is not sanguineus but a local specie not register yet,

in the house we where staying made of wood and palm leaves we also share the place with this insectivorous bat ,when we came to sleep he was out and when we where out in the day he was sleep,a house well use at all times
baseball is the number one sport
my guide holding the spine of a horse
panus sp, some also call it lentinus, hard as hell , one of the few gilled mushrooms i find.
 a mix of dry species
only kids can catch a dragon fly with bare hands
my bufo friend helping to eat mosquito's and ants
ambipligio don[t know the name in English , look scare but is harmless
we where in the jungle no fancy ,table but exotic mails, right roast iguana to the left the fish of the day tilapia, and pargo
iguana eggs , for once in my life i fell like and indians in the amazon
i love crab and specially jaivas
not sure if this one is hemia salicifolia , but almost
is smart to ask for help on id sometimes help!

the jaiva before his visit to the pound la vida es lo mas hermoso cuando , tienes una mente que se unifica con todo
all my best vibrations to you all

What did the iguana eggs taste like!?!
Those are some amazing pictures, all of them.
The butterfly is really backwards, it almost hurts my eyes to look at it.
Awesome spider too, that is the last thing so many insects see.

Aaawwwww, cute bat!!!
That mushroom is Lentinus crinitus! I bet they look cool under the microscope.
I hear from my el salvadorian and mexican friends that turtle and iguana meat, along with their eggs, are very delicious! I would probably try it once or twice, but I really like reptiles, so I don't know that I could eat them on a regular basis.

Nice cactu!!! That crab is very cool.
What is going on in that first picture, with the birds. It almost looks like snow, which I've been seeing alot of lately. That is great, there's so many amazing things down there to study. I bet you can't wait for the rainy season!
Curecat-in asia they eat cats.

landsnorkler,
i am not sure about cats because i never saw that, but i would not doubt it. some countries in asia they eat small dogs and some other asian countries frown on that one for some reason
your typical walk down a main street in mainland china is like a zoo of various animals in cages that they will murder for you right in front of you and then cook them up
one time i was feeling adventurous and wanted to eat one of the animals. i did not want the snakes or those beaver looking things in the cages so i pointed to frogs. the guy calls his little kids over to start grabbing one frog at a time and they would smash their brains out on the road repeated until dead, the road was so old an dirty it was black. not really what was expected to happen.. i would not have ordered them if i knew it would be such a brutal ordeal.

A while back I saw a show on tv, discovery or national geographic, filming one of these places you are talking about. This was in China, and you don't see this kind of thing on food network. Various cats were in display cages. You would choose which cat you wanted and they would take it behind the shack and dip it in boiling water while alive, and skin it. Then they'd cook it up for you. That's just fucked up.
If the deaths of the animals wasn't so brutal I might consider eating some of them. But damn, I lose my appetite when my meal is brutally murdered in front of me.
I flyfish though, so occasionally, to impress girls, I feel I must bring home fish. And I generally end up using blunt force to kill them. Occasionally an eye pops out, but I just keep that on the dl.

Those Lentinus look a good deal different then the L. crinitis that are commonly found in Florida. I never remember seeing them with extra hairy caps and longer stems like in your photographs.

I think it is very cute. In the US we only have one species of Possum (Didelphis virginiana), but there are over 60 species of "Possum" or "Opposum" (order Diprotodontia) in South America.

nicely done cactu
i have only been to Mexico briefly, the yucatan area, cozumel and a couple other towns. all i remember finding were Lentinus, exactly similar looking to the ones in florida. there are at least over 24 species of Lentinus in the world
the fungi you are showing from Nicaragua are all very dry looking and not too pristine of condition, but still very interesting
