Casing Problem?

Hello everyone~
I have a few questions, and I apologize that I don't have any pics because surely that would help (my cam is busted). My question is regarding the casing, I used peat based soil pasteurized and added at about 1/3 to 1/2 and inch to my 16QUART tubs which are straight horse dung and my Brazilian strain. I let the mycelium break through the surface of the casing until I saw various white "hairs" breaking through. Then I quickly placed it into the fruiting environment and waited. I had 9 tubs total, about 3 of them came out with a beautiful even pin set, the optimal forest of mushrooms, but the mushrooms were a little on the smaller side compared to previous grow of the same technique. The rest of the tubs fluctuated, some looked as if they were developing a nice pin set but most ended up becoming aborts and only a handful of mushrooms emerged, the ones that did looked very deformed. Other tubs also had no pin set and all mushrooms that did emerge were deformed. Could it be that Brazilian strain likes straw? Or perhaps does not like peat-based soil as a casing? (The south Americans loved it!!) Did I cause an overlay?
I'm struggling a bit since all these tubs started out perfect, all using the same technique but only a few came out that way. So if you could give me some suggestions I would kindly appreciate that. Perhaps even share with me your casing method.
One other thing, I did not think this was of much importance since mushrooms don't profit from more to less light, as long as there is a dim light they should all profit the same, correct? However, my setup is a 4 tier greenhouse with the light on top and I have been noticing that the tubs closest to the light have been doing extremely well compared to the ones on the bottom. What do you think? It may also be how my humidity and FAE behaves, because my humidity is delivered though a humidifier which is split up by 4 PVC pipes that go to each tier and perhaps the bottom one is not providing enough humidity....My zipper is also broken at the bottom so the lower tiers get a little more fresh air...
Sorry for the essay, I appreciate it greatly.
Peace,
I.T.

It's possible that high aborts are caused by too much strain diversity. The solution might be to clone.
Though if some mushrooms are getting next to no light it could be a problem.

Your post is a little long, and hard to read, try breaking it up some.
Aborts are caused by two things, high CO2, and standing water on them in a stale air environment, which also contributes to high CO2.
Make sure you have good FAE and that your mistings are fine, and not sprayed directly onto the casing layer, but rather upward or outward, allowing the fine drops to settle softly on the surface.
