Cheap man Fogger buoy?

So I have all of my stuff germinating. I'll be constructing a FC out of maybe 2, 4 teir greenhouses or several monotubs. On the position of a fogger for humidity, I plan on using a 5 gallon bucket, with a high volume aquarium pump, ultrasonic fogger and some other stuff. I wanted to make a buoy for my fogger and had thought about using a balloon and some dental floss. I would just cut a length of string to keep the fogger about 2-2.5 in below the water and use the balloon for flotation.
What do you all think?
I'm doing 1 bulk tub of creeper and several cakes of both Texas and Gulf Coast. Just thought I'd throw that info in there for the heck of it.

I purchased a fogger buoy for $5 which included shipping ..... it fits the fogger perfectly and holds it at the perfect depth (under water) for maximum fog output. Check out the ebay sites to find it. Beats the hell out of carving foam or dicking around with condoms! or balloons.

HA! I only use condoms when the wife came off birth control.
I like to make things, only reason why I'm asking. $5 aint bad though.

Haha, Looks like I've been in your situation, I just cut out a ring of Styrofoam, siliconed down a plastic soup container upside down, cut holes to allow the fog out and a slit in the top so I could slide the cord of the fogger in... if you have something sitting on the surface of the water above the fogger your gonna reduce the fogger output a lot.

I'm like you guys .... love to fabricate ... sometimes it gets nutty ! and I spend more $$ and time than just buying the damn thing.
Musher_420's buoy looks exactly like the 'store bought' one. Look around for a small diameter plastic cup .... and you can adjust the thickness of the styrofoam (buoyancy) to match your fogging unit. They are surprisingly heavy.
Had I seen Musher's photo, I would had fabricated my own buoy !

I made mine out of blue foam, the fogger depth is adjustable.

A few other points while I am thinking about it .... for you FABRICATOR FREAKS !
I built a humidifier from a Costco rectangular, laundry soap, plastic bucket and did all the 'plumbing' through the lid.
Plexiglas on the top (to see through to check the water level, etc.)
Tried 3 different fan set-ups: computer fan , and tiny household fan .... blades of these fans are perpendicular to the flow and didn't work well for me. I think 'squirrel cage' is the way to go ... I didn't have one. I ended up using my impeller type 'cool mist'.
I did have an issue mounting the fans directly on the lid. My fogger shoots up a little stream of water (I think it is to break up the surface tension of the water it sits in) which would hit the mounted fans.
So.... my 'cool mist' sits next to and is plumbed into the fogger bucket.
I have a manifold on the outlet from the fogger bucket so I can direct humidity and FAE to various spots.
Timers on the ultasonic fogger and another timer on the cool mist .... These foggers put out lots of humidity so running the cool mist an extra cycle can help dry out the chambers and provide more FAE.

this is a stupid question but why can't you just place the fogger at the bottom of the container? why do they have to float? do they produce more output in shallow water compared to 12 or 16 inches of water? i dont currently use a fogger but im thinking about getting one.

Fog wasn't produced from the ultrasonic I purchased until the unit was aprox. 1" from the water surface ....... and lots more fog when it is 1/2" below the surface.
The water level goes down as the unit produces fog ..... so the buoy keeps the fogger at the perfect depth.
Comprende? When you have one and play with it, it becomes obvious.

Four Gallons of water per day !!!!? Day in, day out?
That is amazing.
Your FC/ room is large .... but four gallons per day blows my mind.
Mushrooms like water ..... What does water weigh? Around 7 lbs per gallon ...? .. something like that ..... 7 x 4 = 28 lbs. of water per day..... Your production must be huge or your air very humid !
Wild. Have fun.

the air is very dry, about 28 to 30% most of the time down there.

Yes Man,
No doubt your 'preconditioned' air is very dry. But after pumping 4 gallons of water into it each day, it must be very humid. !
Your FC looks really neat. I envy the room you have.
Good luck with everything.
