So in PHilosophy class today.........
    #7944739 - 01/28/08 10:52 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

We talked about a picture of Trees and leaves growing in a swamp. It showed a Fish underneath the water and the leaves were on top of the water.

Then there was a reflection and we were asked questions about what kind of Realities we saw. I choose the option of

There are 3 Realities. The world above the water, the world below the water, and the world reflected on the water. I was the only person in the class, when they asked me to explain myself i couldnt quite put my words out correctly :tongue2:

ALot of people said there is only 1 reality of coarse. And some people said there is only 1 reality of the artist himself....because he created the picture.

basically thats an idea of the picture. But think about the world below the water as well.

How many realities are there?

They only saw the reality of the artist who portrayed the image but not the one of the person observing the artwork? :strokebeard:

:hehehe:

Its hard to respond to the question though, because I don't understand what they mean with "realities". How many realities? I'd be inclined to answer one, simply because there is reality, its not like there is some Reality 2 on the other side , but its hard to approach without an understanding of what they meant.

Infinite subjective, one objective.

Yeah? Somehow I feel there is no objective reality...If there is, though, I don't think it is "out there" in a non-sentient universe.

Reality in perceives only subjectively, since all the reality that we know is filtered through the mind.

Remove analysis from the equation. A painting is a painting, but can have many different interpretations.

I did not say that objective reality doesn't exit, but I did say that it can't be perceived.
In the moment that it is perceived it becomes objective.
In this case, the only difference between real and unreal remains the prove, the test. It doesn't mean that IT is (objective) reality itself, but it does mean that we found a common ground, a system in which those views are actually working.

No, in the sense that art can evoke different responses in people. Reactions, perceptions, criticisms, whatever. Objective reality, or Truth, is the same way. Look at the countless amounts of cultures, philosophies, teachings and religions all stemming from, basically, the same world. A good analogy for this might be a prism. White light being the Truth and the prism being the thing that is perceiving it. The gradients of colour, or interpretations, are infinite but are still part of the original source.

So explain to me please, what seems to be bothering you from my post?
The fact that I have quoted a definition instead of saying that SAME thing with my words?
Because I would have given you the same answer.
