So its getting close to a week into the experiment, heres a refresher:
1. buy Tupperware, plastic type 5 PP
2. put a cup of brice/verm mix in each, then light coating of verm
3. PC for a hour at 10 psi with foil lid(no holes)
4. Let pressure out fast and take them out when there still hot Lay a piece of saran wrap over the foil then pull the foil out from under it and seal with saran wrap, the heat should still keep it sterile
5. let is cool for at least 2 hours
6. inoc, or cut a piece off another cake and slip it under the saran wrap, then press it down under verm barrier
************************************************************* So its only a few days in and attached are 2 photos, 1 using SS, 1 using pieces of a old busted ass contaminated cake
I made 20 of these and all of them have no contamination, I cut up the cakes in a open air room, during winter on a bed, now thats clean
Also my jars took at least 2.5 weeks to show the same type of progress so I don't know why but these babies are taking off
Also people say the myc hold the cakes together but my PC made bricks out of the substrate
The best part about this is you don't have to wait forever for the lower part of a jar to colonize!
anyway I thought I would just show you guys how easy this is, wish me luck! now i have to find a rack for my FC so I can stack these babies

yeah I thought about that, Im not really using anything yet as the growth hasn't slowed down, I don't know if saran wrap lets air in or bad gasses out, but once the myc hits the top ill poke some holes if I need to. I still have the dry verm as a shield.
I'm also thinking about flipping the cakes but i'm not sure yet. On one of them I didn't push the inoc down all the way and the myc is spreading over the top(yes its myc not cobweb) so if the tops colonized I should be safe exposing it to a little air.
Next time I will use rubber bands to keep the saran Wrap on, but for now its somewhat loose and just wrapped around each container

Hi guys. I'm new in that forum and glade to join you all. Just register but it's been a while that I'm reading your topics. First I wanna say sorry if my English is not perfect (you will find some mistake but hopefully you will always understand me).
After several trials with grow kit I wanna now start everything myself from the beginning. I ordered spore print today which I should receive in the next few weeks and was looking today for the best container to do so. So I found this post saying all good about 5PP boxes which I think to use.
My question might be stupid (sorry if it is) but am I going to have more quantity of shrooms if I choose a higher boxes to make cakes than a smaller one?? After colonization and consolidation, I think to take the cakes out and put them into a terrarium using PF teck method. My logic would answer yes to that question but I rather having expert opinion. Thanks a lot guys

genetics will always play a huge roll in your yield but yes, bigger cakes equal more shrooms.

Thanks for that verum subsequentis. Hopefully the genetic will be good. It should be as I ordered it from a reputable web site.
Until yesterday, I thought to use a PF teck, but after spending my entire day doing research and reading many different post on forums to get my mind more clear, I would say that now I am way more confuse. Different methods are claim by different people to be the best and I don't know to which one I should give credit as I am a beginner. My target would be the less risk of contamination of course, and having the most quantity I can have at then end. May I ask you which teck you are using cos you field, and shrooms look pretty awesome!!!

Go PF tek and SGFC since it's your first grow. You have to follow only one rule: FOLLOW RECENT TEKS TO THE T!

least risk of contamination and best yield do not go hand in hand. pf tek is the safest for beginners but grain spawned to cvg in a monotub will give you better yields.
most my grows are oats that are simmered until they are properly hydrated. bod's easy as fuck oat tek is a good one. i don't do it exactly that way anymore because i prep too much grain at once. but that is how i learned to tell when oats are fully hydrated.
i then inoculate the grain spawn (in quart jars or four quart bags) with either agar, LI, LC or slurry.
once the bags are done i spawn to 650 grams coir, 1 quart verm and a handful of gypsum that i add around 1 gallon of water to and properly pasteurize.
i grow Penis envy mostly and like to properly case them so once the bulk is fully colonized i add a peat verm casing that is ph adjusted to around 7.5. i also properly pasteurize this. i add it about 1/4 in thick as evenly as possible. when the casing is 20-30% colonized i put them into fruiting conditions. this means removing the tape from the holes and stuffing all four lower holes with medium tight poly, the top holes with very loose poly (almost falling out) and applying direct 6500k light.
at that point i just pretty much wait for a beautiful harvest. If it's drying out to fast i mist and adjust the poly. if it's not getting enough fresh air i don't mist and adjust the poly.
sorry if i jumped over things and confused you but that's the general deal
