The Essence of Zen

Traditional Zen Buddhism teaches that enlightenment is a state of "before-thought" where there is no good karma or bad karma, there only is. This is a state of "don't know" so to speak. However, modern western society has deemed that state virtually all but impossible through it's mass commercialism, consumerism, and materialistic values and morals. Therefore, in theory, the only way to truly achieve this state of "don't know" mind is to transcend this reality and move on to the next. In other words, to die. The Essence of Zen is Death. But the thing is, that isn't a morbid thought, it's not a depressing thought, it's just a thought. And that's Beautiful. ZEN.

Not sure that's what those Zen guys meant.
But we will all find out won't we?

I think you're right and I think you're wrong. What is death? To those morbid thinkers, why does death speak the end of "whatever"? If everything has similar building blocks then there would be no end... so... death? why death?
The SRY (sex determining region of the Y chromosome) gene is a small tidbit of the, well, Y chromosome that determines if the embryo should make testes. Death, to me, would a small tidbit of what is ZEN.

A Zen Master lay on his deathbed.
His students were distraught.
"How will we receive teachings now?!" they asked.
The Zen Master pointed to himself. "There is absolutely nothing here! What teachings?"
With that, he died.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but you have touched upon the very essence of Zen IMO maybe.

hehe, i guess that was a kinda unclear. to make a female the 23rd chromosome pairs usually are XX, whereas it takes an XY to make a male(have testes). On the Y of the XY is a gene that sends the signal to make testes, which produce testosterone and give rise to the secondary sex characteristics like deep voice, hairy chest, etc...
