Incubation heat effecting growth type?
    #7940247 - 01/27/08 01:07 PM (16 years, 5 days ago)

Got a question for the people on here that have seen a jar or two colonize in their day. I have an incubator that gets to about 85 degrees on the very bottom level (I know, I know turn it down). Well it seems like most of my jars on this level have very very thick mycelium growth while the jars on the upper level have more rhizo growth. When I shake the lower jars the rye/wbs grains don't really break apart. Is this some kind of high temperature survival thing?

More likely the lower jars have become contaminated with bacteria, which makes them nearly impossible to break up by shaking. Any reason why you're using an 'incubator'? They're not chicken eggs. Colonize jars at normal room temp for best results.
