A minor tip of marijuana possession led to the dismantling of a sophisticated grow operation near Florenceville and delivered a significant blow to drug trafficking in the region, say Carleton-York District 7 RCMP officers.
On Wednesday afternoon, RCMP officers from the Florenceville detachment acted upon an anonymous tip they had received about marijuana in a Greenfield home. After obtaining a search warrant, officers entered the residence around 3 p.m., and soon discovered a hydroponic grow operation on the second storey of the home.
"With the information we had received, we didn't know about the grow operation," said Cpl. Marty Van Dijk. "That came as a surprise to us."
The grow operation was immediately dismantled, and Cpl. Van Dijk said RCMP seized 65 marijuana plants in their growing stage, eight harvested plants, 85 grams of marijuana bud, some psilocybin mushrooms (also known as magic mushrooms), three unsecured firearms and a significant quantity of marijuana shake used to make hash oil. He pointed out police also seized hydroponic growing equipment, including pots, lamps, generators, an air filter, video-surveillance equipment and a dehumidifier.
Cpl. Van Dijk added the suspect had a well-set-up operation. He said the air filter kept the marijuana smell down and the video-surveillance system allowed the suspect to keep tabs on what was going on outside the home. The suspect even had his own makeshift hash-oil maker, he noted.
"It is the most sophisticated grow-op I've seen in 14 years," said Cpl. Van Dijk. "For the marijuana alone it would be in the range from $70,000 to $80,000. The equipment would be in a range of $10,000 to $20,000, so, in total, it was about a $100,000 seizure,"
Cpl. Van Dijk said one man was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon but was later released. He added charges are pending for production of marijuana, possession of marijuana and unsafe storage of firearms.

Everything they confiscated couldnt have been more than 20,000 because the 65 plants were in vegatative growth, they only had 8 plants with bud on them, only 85 grams, and some shake. The equipment was no more than 5 grand.

there must have been more than the anonymous tip, it would be kinda ridiculous if they got a warrant off of that...

why are you banging your head because of a dehumidifier? They were growing hydro, you cannot have your RH much past 60 or else mold.
