Question - Spawning to Outdoor Woodchips

So say while driving one notices a woodchip pile of immense proportions on a cleared lot, we're talking two stories high, maybe 100ft long by 75 ft wide. Say this person would like to take the chance that this pile will stick around for a couple years and wants to use the pile to spawn to with some woodlovers. This person is thinking of using a crap ton of colonized grain and burying it all around amongst the pile. Does this seem like a good plan? Is there a species/strain that might prove to be the easiest to accomplish this goal with? This is around the Long Island Sound area location-wise.

This person should go for it. This person may not want to use grain, but instead to knock up myco bags of would chips. This person should use the search feature and search for "wood loving".

enough with the third person lol
I've done a bit of searching and have decided on azures. I'm figuring the best bet will be to collect some of the woodchips and spawn to them using some grain. I'll then use these colonized chips to spawn to the gigundo pile.

Sounds like a plan. Just keep what you spawn to the large pile limited to the very bottom edge where the chips interface with the soil. Azures won't fruit from plain wood. RR

Let me know how your experiment goes, I want to do an experiment with a wood lover, not a magical one, just edible. I'd like to hear what kind of success you have with this before I proceed.
